Adult patients with ADHD commonly report an improvement in behavioral symptoms when using cannabis with some reporting a preference towards cannabis over their ADHD stimulant medication. In a 2008 case report study, Cannabis was shown to improve symptoms of ADHD. The presented case report suggested that “individuals suffering from ADHD, a dysfunction with a symptomatic change in activity levels, may - in some cases – benefit from cannabis treatment in that it appears to regulate activation to a level which may be considered optimum for performance. There was evidence, that the consumption of cannabis had a positive impact on performance, behaviour and mental state of the subject.”\nIn regards to Cannabis and Autism, a 2013 study conducted by Dr. Dario Siniscalco found indications that “certain compounds—namely the CB2 receptor—found in cannabis may be helpful in managing autism.” According to the Autism Research Institute, some of the symptoms that MMJ have improved include “anxiety, aggression, panic disorder, generalized rage, tantrums, property destruction, and self-injurious behavior.”\n\ntatiananp","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_10287-markdown","title":"What cannabis strains are the best for cognitive improvement?","slug":"what-cannabis-strains-are-the-best-for-cognitive-improvement","content":"\"I have multiple sclerosis and ADHD. \"\n_____________________\nThis might be helpful..an article on leafly.com talks about different strains for ADHD and clarity.\nhttps://www.leafly.com/news/strains-products/best-cannabis-strains-for-focus-and-addadhd\n\nPiantaTinta","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_10180-markdown","title":"Can the oil help with my adhd","slug":"can-the-oil-help-with-my-adhd","content":"","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_10010-markdown","title":"I suffer from Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), would smoking marijuana help me focus?","slug":"i-suffer-from-attention-deficit-disorder-add-would-smoking-marijuana-help-me-focus","content":"\n_____________________\nHello! Before answering, there would be a couple questions with which I would want clarification. When were you formally diagnosed with ADD/ ADHD and what types of treatments have you tried so far? Have you been diagnosed with anything else that might contribute to the diagnosis? (i.e. anxiety/panic disorder, depression diagnosis, etc?). As for cannabis, there are interesting studies being done, that might link ADHD to the CNR1 (Cannabinoid receptor 1) on Chromosome 6 ( article link: \n https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2685476). However, there are other studies that seem to find a correlation between ADHD and CUD (Cannabis use disorder) (article link: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4882033/)\n \n So with all these seemingly contradictory bits of information , what would be my recomendation? If you haven't been formally diagnosed by a psychiatrist and at least given a good trial of first line medications, you owe it to yourself to at least check these out first or to see if your initial diagnosis of ADHD might have been mistaken. Another option is that cannabis can be used in moderation to help you as a pt handle the side effects from the Rx meds/ stimulants. If you absolutely can' handle these Rx meds and want to experiment with cannabis, I would only do so under a very controlled setting with the lowest amount of cannabis use possible and with a psychiatrist/ therapist supervising the overall treatment plan. Keep in mind that if you are under the age of 25, heavy (daily/ near daily) cannabis use has associated cognitive/ IQ decline and increased rates of schizophrenia-like symptoms, worsening of anxiety/ depression, bipolar and other unsavory mental health issues; mult. sources have cited that this is linked to the frontal lobe of your brain being damaged. The overall message is: yes, this might help but overall ADHD should be managed by a multi-modal response that includes more than medications as cited by sources including the British Journal of Psychiatry. I hope that this information helps and if you want to talk further for an online consult, we can do that too!\n\ndrpark\n_____________________\nUnfortunately, there is very little formal research regarding the possible therapeutic value cannabis may have on ADHD and ADD. However, a recent study by Loflin et al., studied current cannabis users and found that when the study subjects did NOT use cannabis, they were much more likely to exhibit hyperactive-impulsivity symptoms; or alternatively worded, cannabis helped reduce hyperactive-impuslivity symptoms in established cannabis users.\n\nAccording to the study above though, cannabis did not have much effect on focus. However, there is a plethora of anecdotal evidence supporting a positive effect on both hyperactive-impulsivity and focus. There was even a study which polled ADHD internet forums about the effectiveness of cannabis as a treatment. The study concluded that despite a lack of systematic research supporting the beneficial effects of cannabis use for ADHD, online discussions indicate that cannabis is helpful for improving focus in ADHD patients.\n\nWhen considering the above, in combination with the fact that conventional medications for ADD wreak havoc on one's health, I do believe that cannabis is a viable treatment option to try. Most of my ADD patients report a significant boost to their focus with a very small dose of sativa or a sativa-dominant hybrid.\n\ndrkim","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_9856-markdown","title":"What are the long term effects of daily cannabis use? ","slug":"what-are-the-long-term-effects-of-daily-cannabis-use","content":"\"I use edibles and tinctures for insomnia I am wondering if you know of any studies or have information about the long term effects of using cannabis for sleep, on a daily basis? Lately, I've been hearing and reading that edibles, though they can enable falling asleep and staying asleep, they can also interfere with rem and other important sleep patterns. Since I got my prescription over the summer, I've been taking edibles and tinctures, almost daily, because of my insomnia, but I am slightly concerned about the fact that I often do not remember my dreams, and wonder about long the term effects of this... is it safe to take edibles daily and in the long run, do you know if it can it have an effect on the development of cognitive disorders? A doctor of mine previously told me that the regular use of certain sleeping pills can add to the development of cognitive disorders later in life, so I'm wondering if there is information out there regarding long term effects of cannabis for insomnia, and also what the consequences are for not reaching rem regularly as a result of cannabis use to treat this condition. Thank you in advance for any information you can share.\"\n_____________________\nThat's a great question. I've had similar results from treating my insomnia with cannabis. It helped me to sleep but my sense was that it was an unnatural depth of sleeping. I also noticed strange dreaming when I was altered. \nI've since shifted to Hemp oil at night. The lack of THC has seemed to have helped me not only to fall asleep easier but I wake up feeling fresher on less sleep. \nInterested to hear more answered to this question.\n\ncbdforlife","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_9851-markdown","title":"Can I add someone to pick up my medicine","slug":"can-i-add-someone-to-pick-up-my-medicine","content":"\n_____________________\nAt the time of the medical cannabis interview, your medical caretaker must be present at the same time and then a car can be issued allowing your medical caretaker to pick up your medicine for you or to go with you to the dispensary. You can try taking 2 to 7 days off any tincture, then re-start, and make a plan to take either on a \"full\" or \"empty\" stomach. and moniter symptom relief. If he needs more relief after lunch, he could try either: CBD only spray under the tongue/buccally; or try vaping CBD only (or CBD dominant) strain.\nLet us know how this all helps\n\ndrraisen","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_7397-markdown","title":"Will 100% CBD help with arthritis and ADHD?","slug":"will-100-cbd-help-with-arthritis-and-adhd","content":"\n_____________________\nHi there, \n\nI'm not a Dr but i've seen CBD topical's do wonders for a handful of cannabis patients.
