Although THCA is considered non-psychoactive, when THCA is aged or heated it changes into THC, the psychoactive compound in cannabis. \n\nIf the product you purchased has no CBD present, I am afraid there is a possibility you may experience a little anxiety. Similarly, several recently published studies suggest that CBD does the same. However, if possible, adding a small to moderate amount of THC would be much more effective, especially during any acute increase of intense anxiety—2.5mg to 10mg of THC is what most patients find helpful, without unwanted side effects. However, patients should always \"start low, and go slow.\" So, patients should not start above 2.5mg of THC. ++ If THC is available, it can be mixed with THC at varying levels. These products are expressed in ratios. ++ Ratios: In the vast majority of cases, are expressed in Parts of CBD, to every Part of THC.\n\ndrkim\n_____________________\nSo, for example, 10:1 would indicate 10CBD:1THC; 2:1 would indicate 2CBD:1THC\nIn general, when both CBD and THC are valuable in treating the condition, it's a good idea to keep the milligrams of CBD relatively consistent, then manipulate the ratios to provide an appropriate amount of THC. Most choose between 5 to 20mg of CBD. \n\nSo, for example, if we wanted to keep the CBD dosage at 10mg, we would choose the ratio of the product that provides the amount of THC that is acceptable to the patient. Many patients want no perceptible psychoactivity during the day, while some psychoactivity during the evening is acceptable. In this situation, many would use a higher ratio during the day, such as\n10:1, which would provide 10mg of CBD and 1mg of THC. Most patients do not perceive psychoactivity when taking 1mg, or less of THC\n\nThen as a sleep aid, a more balanced ratio, such as 1:1, which would provide 10mg of CBD, and 10mg of THC. 10mg is considered a \"standard dose.\" Most new patients report 10mg of THC to be moderately to extremely psychoactive. So, when starting, it's always a good idea to start low, and go slow.   In general, 2.5mgs of THC would be a good \"test dose.\"\n\ndrkim\n_____________________\nRatios of between 10:1 and 30:1 are rarely psychoactive, so this ratio-range would be a good choice for most when psychoactivity is to be avoided, such as during the daytime, or if the patient prefers to avoid any psychoactivity. +\n\nRatios of between 4:1 and 8:1 are considered mid-range ratios. In general, products in this range would cause mild psychoactivity, noticeable anxiety relief and a boosted mood, without feeling \"high\". +\n\n2:1 and 1:1 are more balanced ratios. In general, this range provides the most pain relief and is the better choice for sleep issues. +++\n\nOils:\n1. Place the oil under your tongue.\n2. Use your tongue to gently “paint” the tincture around your inner cheeks\n3. Wait 60 to 90 seconds before swallowing.\nEffects should peak in about 15 minutes, and should last between 2 to 4 hours\n\nEDIBLES:\nWait at least 1 hour to gauge efficacy. When you are on an empty stomach, peak effect is reached in about one hour. However, if you have had a large meal, especially a fatty meal, it can take up to two hours to reach peak effect. Effects should last between 4 to 10 hours.\n\nWhen choosing products, make sure that the product label specifies the amount of CBD and/or THC per drop or dropper-full. They found that \"both cannabinoids potentiated the extinction of cocaine- and amphetamine-induced place preference learning\" in rats. \n\nIn order to reach that conclusion, they administered amphetamine to rats in one specific area of their cage until the rat was conditioned to prefer that area regardless (conditioned place preference). They then compared the time it took for the rat to no longer prefer the conditioned area (extinction) when administered either CBD, THC or saline. They found that both CBD and THC shortened the time to extinction of the conditioned place preference.\n\nThey also determined that the shortened extinction time involved neither the cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1), nor the cannabinoid receptor 2 (CB2). The psychoactive effects of cannabis occur when THC binds the CB1 receptor in the brain; CBD does not directly bind either receptor—which is why CBD consumption does not lead to psychoactivity. \nhttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15138755/\n\nHowever, CBD does interact with the serotonin receptor (5-HT1A)—which is central to the etiology of both depression and anxiety; hence, the use of SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) as a first line treatment for both conditions. Similarly, pre-clinical studies suggest that CBD's antidepressant and anxiolytic effects are at least partially derived from CBD's interaction with the 5-HT1A receptor. \n\nhttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24923339\nhttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26711860\nhttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16258853\n\nThe serotonin (5-HT1A) receptor is also fundamental \"to virtually all behaviors associated with psychostimulant addiction.\" When amphetamines bind the serotonin receptor, serotonin floods into an area called the \"synapse\" of the serotonin receptor; the serotonin can then bind the \"postsynaptic\" area of the serotonin receptor, setting off a series of molecular events which—in combination with a concurrent flood of dopamine—lead to feelings of euphoria (among other emotional and physical responses). The increase in serotonin—in addition to dopamine—is a core mechanism of action for drug addiction.\nhttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17316955\n\nTogether, pre-clinical studies suggest that CBD's interaction with the serotonin (5HT1A) receptor is the common-causative molecular event necessary for CBD to impart its anxiolytic, anti-depressant and addiction-intervening properties. \n\nI can't say which CBD oil is best, but I recommend what to look for:\n1. Is this true? How long after surgery should I wait before vaping. I use Cannabis for insomnia, anxiety and tummy issues from anx. Thank you \"\n_____________________\nHi there!\nSince you've stopped six days prior to surgery, you should be fine. \nThere are three main considerations:\n1. Smoking marijuana can lead to respiratory complications during and after surgery. However, when considering your abstinence of 6 days, and that you vaporize cannabis, respiratory complications are unlikely: The temperature of combusted cannabis is much higher than vaporized cannabis. Additionally, vaporized cannabis does not release the lung-damaging byproducts of combustion, which also interfere with wound healing. \n2. Heavy use of cannabis may alter the metabolism—via competitive inhibition—of most anesthetic agents, which would necessitate higher amounts of anesthetic. This effect would be of meaningful concern if used the day of, or heavily the day prior.\n3. If used the day of, or heavily the day prior, cannabis may also lead to unpredictable fluctuations in blood pressure, which might make the case much more complicated for the anesthesiologist.\nI hope this helps!\n\nRegarding the scarring:\nIf anything, cannabis (not smoked) would only help prevent scarring. \nScarring (fibrosis) is defined as the formation of excess fibrous connective tissue which occurs after an injury, such as a surgical incision.\nThere are a few studies which suggest that cannabis attenuates the fibrotic response:\n\"CB2 agonists attenuated the infiltration of inflammatory cells in bleomycin-induced skin fibrosis.\"\nhttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4757881\n\ndrkim\n_____________________\n\"Our findings indicate that CB2 limits leukocyte infiltration and tissue fibrosis in experimental dermal fibrosis. Since selective CB2 agonists are available and well tolerated, CB2 might be an interesting molecular target for the treatment of early inflammatory stages of systemic sclerosis.\"\nhttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19333940\nHowever, CBD binds the CB2 (Cannabinoid 2) receptor very weakly; THC binds the CB2 receptor with high affinity -- so it would be THC, rather than CBD, attenuating the fibrotic process in the manner described above. \nAlthough, a study published in 2011 did conclude that \"CBD treatment attenuates diabetes-associated myocardial fibrosis.\" \nhttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3026637/\n\nThere was also a study that concluded that \"a combination of the oils of four plants: sesame (Sesamum indicum L.), wild pistachio (Pistacia atlantica Desf.), hemp (Cannabis sativa L.), and walnut (Juglans regia L.) significantly reduced the healing time from major burns. \nhttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5292211/.\n\nSo, rather than exacerbating the scarring process, cannabis might reduce scar formation, and it might even shorten healing time.\nI would recommend:\nhttps://www.hellomd.com/products/5b6e09bd96120c00012c6935/13-releaf-balm \nIt's a 1CBD:3THC cream, that I believe aligns well with the above research.\n\nI hope this helps!\n\n\ndrkim","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12250-markdown","title":"What is the right strain for a night out?","slug":"what-is-the-right-strain-for-a-night-out","content":"\" \nChoosing the right strain of weed to take for an event can make or break a night. I strongly recommend that you make an appointment with one of the providers on this platform for an assessment and professional recommendation on the appropriate medical cannabis therapy for managing your medical condition.\n\nSource: The Health Effects of Cannabis and Cannabinoids: The Current State of Evidence and Recommendations for Research 1st Edition - by Engineering, and Medicine National Academies of Sciences (Author), Health and Medicine Division (Author), Board on Population Health and Public Health Practice (Author), Committee on the Health Effects of Marijuana: An Evidence Review and Research Agenda (Author)\n\nYemisiNP","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12238-markdown","title":"Which product for Anxiety","slug":"which-product-for-anxiety","content":"\"i have extreme anxiety and am looking for something that will ease it. what do you recommend? \"\n_____________________\nHi there!\nFor extreme anxiety, I would recommend a 2CBD:1THC to 4CBD:1THC product or a CBD strain with a similar ratio to the above.\n\nCBD strains\nHarlequin - a 5:2 sativa strain \nSweet and Sour Widow - a 1:1 indica strain \nPennywise - a 1:1 indica strain \nCannatonic - a 3:1 hybrid strain\n\nProducts\nhttps://www.cbd.org/find\n\nI hope this helps!\n\ndrkim","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12221-markdown","title":"Hello, will this help with relieving chronic headaches due to an automobile accident?","slug":"hello-will-this-help-with-relieving-chronic-headaches-due-to-an-automobile-accident","content":"\"I was in an auto accident about 2 years ago where I was rear-ended by a distracted driver at a stop light, and since then, I have not had a single day where I do not have a headache.
