If you are an inexperienced smoker a may compound your anxiety since you’re not used to it.\n\npoopiscoop\n_____________________\nHello! Although cannabis acts as an anxiolytic (anxiety inhibitor) in low doses, high doses can be anxiogenic (anxiety inducing) and can elicit panic reactions. However, the key here is the balance between THC and CBD. Research studies found that CBD oil had anti-anxiety and antidepressant effects. CBD also helps counteract the negative effects THC may have such as inducing anxiety. If you are looking to address your anxiety and your pain at the same time with medical marijuana, I would recommend starting with CBD Dominant medication, and if you choose to titrate the THC to higher concentrations, stay below the 1:1 ratio.\n\ntatiananp","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_8561-markdown","title":"Looking for cannabis (not just CBDs) that induces sleep, but NOT anxiety","slug":"looking-for-cannabis-not-just-cbds-that-induces-sleep-but-not-anxiety","content":"\"I am suffering from severe insomnia and looking to use cannabis to sleep, and taper off the pharmas. Are there any powerful strains that DO NOT result in anxiety, for those prone to pot-induced anxiety? Thank you!\"\n_____________________\nHi, I tried the cbd’s for chronic insomnia, had to go to something stronger, I found you need to stay away from sativa strains, some hybrids ( which has is a crossbreed; the sativas and some hybrids can cause anxiety)but use any indica strain to help with sleep. Research some of the different types within the indica strains and you’ll be able to see if one makes you sleepy or relaxed, there’s a huge field to choose from, educate yourself\nabout the different types and that way someone doesn’t sell you something you don’t need! \n\nlbmenehune83\n_____________________\nSomething to remember is that there is a difference in being able to go to sleep and to stay asleep. They each can use different types of cannnabis. For difficulties going to sleep a tincture or a vape pen will have a faster affect and allow you to fall asleep. If you have no issue falling asleep but then wake up several hours later, then an edible may be the way to go. This is because an edible can take 1-2 hours to kick in and will last several hours. The effect also depends on what you have eaten for dinner and how long you take it before going to bed.\nI also suggest keeping a sleep journal where you keep track of what you ate (briefly), what type of cannabis you used, how you slept and what you felt like in the morning. You can titrate what you used to the effect that you want.\n\nPerry Solomon, MD\n_____________________\nMy favorite \"sleepy time\" strains include Bubba Kush, Zensation, Grape Ape and 9 LB Hammer. It was definately \"trial and error\" to find ones that work well, but they have been a game changer for me. For instance, some people do well on very high levels of THC for sleeping, where others, it can keep them awake. The same goes for CBD. I allows suggest to people when they ask me, to go low and slow with any dosage so you don't end up wide awake or MORE wide awake.\n\nIn general, edibles are a great way to take cannabis for sleep because once they kick in they last for 4-6 hours. Many people too dop not like the idea of vaping or smoking right before bed.\n\nTinctures are also popular these days and I have found they kick in rather quickly for me. \n\npamelahadfield\n_____________________\nIn terms of anxiety, most people seem to respond well to high levels of CBD and or flower that has more of a balanced ratio of CBD to THC. A week later, I still don't feel like I'm getting any benefit, and I just had an extreme panic attack. Any suggestions? \"\n_____________________\nAny CBD:THC ratio > 14:1 helps with anxiety. We often recommend a CBD:THC ratio of 20:1 every 20 mins during a panic attack and every 3-6 hours as needed for anxiety. This ratio does not make you \"high\" as the 4:1 that you are using can. To tell you further information, I recommend a CBD:THC ratio of 4:1 for pain, sleep or nausea, not anxiety as higher THC products as the one you are taking can increase anxiety in some people. Hope this helps!\n\ndrb\n_____________________\nI take about 30-40mg of 20:1 tincture everyday and it definitely has calmed my nerves over the years. I used to get anxiety attacks and now I never do anymore. Also, you may want to consider trying gel caps as sometimes the way you metabolize can alter the affect. Last, CBD can help in the moment, but taking it consistently over a longer period is what helped resolve my issues. My main strains I would take before bed with some melatonin. They were Lemon OG and Blueberry pie (THC dominant). \r\nLately, I've developed sleep anxiety. Taking anything weed related only seemed to make it worse. I incorporated a tincture to help me sleep, however today especially after sleeping 10hrs, I woke up and all day just little epinephrine rushes sometimes for no reason. I've been to doctors over the last week or so and they say I'm fine. I've been meditating, deep breathing, and putting my faith in myself, but this feels a little more than psychosomatic. Any help?\"\n_____________________\nHello and thank you for the great question, \n\nI believe you are referring to adrenal fatigue, which is not recognized as a legitimate diagnosis by allopathic medicine. However, I do believe that there is some merit to the theory. \n\nThere are no studies on humans which evaluate the long term effects of cannabis on the adrenal glands. However, cannabis has been shown to elevate cortisol levels, which of course, is central to the theory of adrenal fatigue. However, this effect is relatively short lived and I doubt cannabis, when used in moderation or sparingly, would cause long term adverse effects on adrenal glands. However, if used heavily, I would hypothesize that cannabis could have some negative effects on the adrenal glands - most likely not permanent though. \n\nFirst and foremost, you should consult your primary care physician to discuss your symptoms so that he/she could evaluate you properly; I cannot offer you a valid opinion without asking you more questions, performing a pertinent physical exam and possibly running laboratory tests. I will say, however, that it sounds most likely a psychosomatic reaction. \n\nIt also sounds like you may be sensitive to THC, which has been shown to have cardiovascular effects like elevated heart rate and changes in blood pressure; THC is also the main culprit in elevated anxiety and even paranoia in some. \n\nConsidering the above and the choices you inquired about, lemon OG would be the better choice for sleep and would also be much less prone to causing elevated anxiety and heart rate. \n\nHowever, I would recommend you try \"high CBD strains\" which have much lower THC concentrations than both lemon OG and especially blueberry pie. \n\nHere are some of my recommended high CBD strains. \n- The INDICA would be the choice for sleep.\n\n-Some recommended high CBD strains-\nSATIVA - Harlequin is one of the most popular CBD strains available. Typically testing around the 5:2 CBD/THC ratio, it exhibits a sativa-dominant alertness with only mild euphoria. Harlequin has a happy bent that most will find enhances whatever activity they are engaged in.\n\nHYBRD - ACDC is easily my favorite CBD strain. The cannabinoid content is usually heavily CBD-dominant, sitting on average at 20:1 in its CBD/THC ratio. An imperceptible amount of THC makes ACDC an outstanding companion for daily medicinal cannabis consumers seeking to relieve tension, pain, or anxiety.\n\nINDICA - Stephen Hawking Kush offers mild, relaxing effects while doling out a healthy dose of CBD, too. This indica-dominant strain is one of the more unique CBD cuts out there, offering both heady and soothing effects.\n\ndrkim","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_8428-markdown","title":"What is the best cannabis product you can recommend for headaches caused by anxiety?","slug":"what-is-the-best-cannabis-product-you-can-recommend-for-headaches-caused-by-anxiety","content":"\n_____________________\nFormulations with equal THC/CBD ratio and formulations with low THC/High CBD ratio seem to be effective for anxiety.
