CBD, or cannabidiol, is responsible for immune system modulation, meaning it is helpful for an autoimmune condition like rheumatoid arthritis. THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol — and byproducts of its metabolism — has been found to be anti-inflammatory and analgesic (pain killing). THC is also known to reduce the anxiety and depression that commonly accompany severe diseases, especially those that affect one’s mobility.\n\ncherylnp","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_8412-markdown","title":"Is the cannabis strain AK-47 suitable for arthritis? ","slug":"is-the-cannabis-strain-ak-47-suitable-for-arthritis","content":"\"It has a high level of THC, not CBD.\"\n_____________________\nHello and thank you for the great question,\n\nWhile AK-47 should help with the pain, there definitely are better choices for arthritic pain. As you mentioned, AK-47 has relatively small amounts of CBD which is what's largely responsible for the anti-inflammatory and pain relieving properties of cannabis. \n\nI recommend you ask for high CBD strains for arthritic pain. Here are a few popular high CBD strains.\n\nSATIVA - Harlequin is one of the most popular CBD strains available. Typically testing around the 5:2 CBD/THC ratio, it exhibits a sativa-dominant alertness with only mild euphoria. Harlequin has a happy bent that most will find enhances whatever activity they are engaged in.\n\nHYBRD - ACDC is easily my favorite CBD strain. The cannabinoid content is usually heavily CBD-dominant, sitting on average at 20:1 in its CBD/THC ratio. An imperceptible amount of THC makes ACDC an outstanding companion for daily medicinal cannabis consumers seeking to relieve tension, pain, or anxiety.\n\nINDICA - Stephen Hawking Kush offers mild, relaxing effects while doling out a healthy dose of CBD, too. This indica-dominant strain is one of the more unique CBD cuts out there, offering both heady and soothing effects.\n\nHope this helps!\nRichard Kim MD\n\ndrkim","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_7740-markdown","title":"Possible arthritis pain. ","slug":"possible-arthritis-pain","content":"\"I had shoulder surgery for a torn rotator cuff 2 years ago, however, it doesn't appear to have healed correctly as I still have pain. I also have severe pain in my right shoulder. The pain seems to refer to my bicep and upper arm. I believe they said it could be from arthritis and or nerve impingement. When I use my arms (shoulders) in activities my upper arms and neck muscles ache and hurt a lot. I ice frequently....I have a medical marijuana card, but have had no real luck with dealing with my pain. What ration of BCD and THC would be best to beat this pain? Can you recommend a tincture that would work best?\"\n_____________________\n\nHello! I recommend to try a 1:1 CBD:THC sublingual tincture and topical salve. The CBD helps to control inflammation (the \"-itis\" part of arthritis) while THC can help to decrease the perception of pain. I'd start with a low dose, such as 1-2 drops under the tongue in the evening and increase slowly if needed. The topical salve can be used additionally or alone on the skin surface where you have pain. I'd recommend to follow up with your primary care doctor and/or surgeon, consider long term physical therapy, and other alternative measures as part of a holistic approach to pain control. I purchase it from Sonoma Patient Group in Santa Rosa but you might be able to have a delivery service find it for you but I do find the 2:1, CBD:THC, works best. I do think the significant issue is that a CBD dominant salve is very effective so you could start with that information in looking for an effective product. I encourage you to use the salve where you hurt but also treat the corresponding area of your spine where the nerves come out for better coverage of you pain problems. \nI also recommend CBD internally like the CareByDesign 18:1 spray in the mouth.\n\ndrolson","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_7574-markdown","title":"What kind of CBD oils are good for arthritis, diabetes, and neuropathy?","slug":"what-kind-of-cbd-oils-are-good-for-arthritis-diabetes-and-neuropathy","content":"\"What kind of CBD oil I would need for severe pain in my lower back from osteo and rheumatoid arthritis. Also what kind of CBD oil is good for neuropathy in my husband's legs and what kind of CBD oil is good for keeping my husband's blood sugar under control as he is a type 2 diabetic. \"\n_____________________\nSevere pain is a challenge for any herbal or medical treatment. I've had very good results using CBD. The dose is variable depending on the individual unrelated to their size. CBD has been shown to modulate our opioid and other pain receptors to reduce pain directly and make other pain medications more effective as much as 75%. For arthritis 60mg of CBD have been available for most patients in controlling arthritis of all types. Similarly, neuropathy has improved and in some cases of diabetic neuropathy there has been a return of feeling. In diabetes a decrease in BS of 30 points is not unusual but more importantly perhaps is the protection CBD offers against eye, kidney and nerve damage so common in diabetes. Drastic restriction of carbohydrates in the diet will control most cases of T2DM and reverse in some.\n\ndrblair\n_____________________\nCannabidiol is only one molecule out of over 420 cannabinoids found within cannabis. Focusing on just the one molecule for all of these ailments may not be as beneficial as using whole plant, raw cannabis. CBD is popular because it is non-psychoactive. It doesn't get you \"high\" and it's safe for kids and pets. The same goes for acidic cannabinoids found in whole plant cannabis. \r\n\r\nEva makes a great line of products called the \"better supplements\" that would be suitable for your pain, diabetes, and arthritis. \r\n\r\nBetterRelief contains non-psychoactive whole plant cannabis, turmeric, and ginger. These ingredients stabilize blood sugar, relieve pain, and target arthritis. \n\nnixie\n_____________________\nHi friends, I am a cancer free Patient today. After several years of suffering. CBD or Cannabidiol is not psychoactive but does stop pain, muscle spasm and the inflammation of herniated discs and arthritis so I do think you would be happy with CBDs. The next issue is how to administer the medication so this will take some experimenting and a bit more education. We have a great video on line about vaporizing your medication. Vaporizing is more like using an asthmatic inhaler rather than smoking since vaporizing only administers the medication but no harmful particulate matter and the medication is in your blood in 1-2 minutes and in effect typically within 10 minutes for quick relief. \r\nI also recommend a topical 2:1, CBD: THC salve used frequently along the spine to stop the pain and inflammation. The more frequent you use the salve the longer the pain relief lasts. \r\nI also suspect both mom and dad are vitamin D deficient, so please be certain to have their vitamin D blood level checked and start supplementation with vitamin D3 iIn order to maintain a blood level between 55 ng/ML-95 ng/ML for optimal pain relief.\r\nSince many adults are put on the pharmaceutical drugs for symptoms you want to be sure to check a drug to drug interaction screen through drugs.com. If they take CBD and vitamin D their health will likely improve significantly and their medications may need to be adjusted down so please be certain to follow through with a primary care physician.\r\nEven though we get old we can be healthy!
