It will help with pain, muscle spasms, inflammation, sleep, mood and other aspects of recovery. Studies have concluded that cannabis can potentiate the effects of opiates. Meaning that if one uses cannabis, less opiates would be required to achieve adequate pain control. I would use a CBD rich whole plant cannabis extract in a sublingual tincture format. Are there any alternative options to smoking, that would be easier on the lungs? Right now he says he cannot literally live without the marijuana, but unless he stops smoking it, he will lose his home this month.\n\n2. During these past 11 years, he's also grown more and more depressed and anxious. I can hardly walk two blocks! CBD? Will it help? I've been hearing so much about it.\"\n_____________________\nHello,\r\nI am so sorry to hear about your painful condition.\r\n\r\nHave you tried CBD or THC before? Does THC seem to help with the pain? THC and CBD do work better together for pain relief. I would recommend trying either one of our 1:1 ratio bars. We offer an 60mg bar in a dark chocolate espresso flavor and a 120mg bar in a dark chocolate ginger flavor. We would recommend a starting dose of 5mg for your first time until you know how your body will react. Please let me know if you have any other questions since I would like to know what you have tried so far.\n\nkivaerica\n_____________________\nCBD is definitely worth trying for your pain! Kiva makes two 1:1 ratio CBD/ THC bars. We always recommend starting with a 5MG dose of THC and seeing how that amount feels. Starting with a low dose will help you find your Minimum Effective Dose (MED). If you titrate (slowly increase your dose), you should be able to find that sweet spot of relief. If you find that edible products do not give you a desirable experience, you can also try topicals applied directly to the painful areas- or even do topicals in conjunction with edibles. With topicals you can feel free to use THC-only products as there is no psychoactivity associated with them. We wish you the best of luck in finding comfort and relief in cannabis!\n\nchristiestrong\n_____________________\nYes, I am a strong believer in CBDs and I do think you will find relief of your chronic back pain with CBD and I agree it is often best to use CBD internally as well as the external cream at a 1:1 ratio of CBD:THC. You may apply the cream every hour during your waking hours and this should put your chronic back pain in remission but the trick to getting pain to go away is to apply the salve frequently to keep the pain from breaking through and you are telling you body that you do not want to be notified of each twinge of pain and the body eventually stops sending the signals (unless you reinjure yourself) but you need to apply the cream to the painful area as well as to your cervical & lumbar spine to resolve the neuropathy symptoms. You do have to be a little patient because it will take time to get rid of all the inflammatory cells that are creating your back pain and neuropathy. Being consistent with a daily dose of high CBD, like in a tincture concentrate, and you should start to notice that you are feeling better in a month and in two months you should be significantly improved throughout your body and your chronic back pain may be history. If this has not resolved your problems please, have your doctor check your vitamin B12, magnesium and vitamin C levels and you may need to increase NAC, Glutathione, Alpha Lipoic Acid and and Vitamin C.\n\ndrolson\n_____________________\nChronic pain and neuropathy are extremely common issues and cannabis has been known to help people with both of these conditions. Back pain is known to affect up to 80% of the population at some point. Neuropathy, is estimated to affect up to 20 million people per year and\"is defined as the damage to the sensory, motor or automatic nerves that occurs from an underlying cause.\"\n\nYour question specifically asked if CBD might help with your medical issue. It's important to address how whole plant cannabis, meaning all the cannabinoids including THC, may be used for both of these conditions. \n\nRecent studies have indicated that cannabis reduces chronic pain for both men and women. In our HelloMD/UC Berkeley study on chronic pain and cannabis, 81% of participants said that cannabis was more effective for their pain. Often, it seems that higher-percentage THC strains combat pain for people more effectively, however, high CBD ratio (with low THC%) may also help. A hi CBD strain for pain is ACDC and a hi THC strain that may work is OG Kush.\n\nIn terms of neuropathy, many patients respond better with cannabis than to traditional treatment. Both THC and CBD interact with the nervous system to mitigate pain. It is important to try different kinds of cannabis to see what work for you and your body. \n\n\npamelahadfield\n_____________________\nA colleague here at HelloMD wrote an outstanding article regarding marijuana strains for back pain:\nhttps://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/57e1803d16ce30000b06ba0a/the-best-marijuana-strains-for-back-pain\n\nBecause many patients would like to avoid smoking and vaping, I will provide a list of edible and topical cannabis products that I highly recommend for chronic back pain.\n\nhttps://www.cbd.org/products/cbd-sublingual-spray\nI recommend the 2:1 spray . Often folks with PTSD also have physical injury to the area and they will feel physical relief without psychoactive effects. In this way, it helps relax the patient to the point where they can sleep better which again helps PTSD. Being able to curl up in a comfortable position at bedtime is very therapeutic. Being able to relax tense muscles is also therapeutic and supports an increased sense of wellbeing. Best way to know is to try it out, applying to the lower back daily & as often daily as needed to get the best results. Sometimes a topical in combination with a tincture for anxiety or depression can really work wonders!\n\ndidi\n_____________________\nWill cannabis patches relieve my lower back pain. I've had all the treatments that are available to rid me of my pain, but nothing has worked. I'm 85 years old and have suffered lower back pain for years. I want to find some relieve somewhere. Can you help me?\n\nrammagigi\n_____________________\nI agree with the use of the cannabis salve for your back pain especially the high CBD salve or a 2:1 ratio of CBD to THC works well for pain relief for 4-6 hours but you may want to apply a second layer about 5-10 minutes later for longer and more effective relief. I would also encourage the daily use of high CBD low THC tincture or vape pen of a higher CBD to THC like ACDC to relieve the PTSD symptoms. It may take time to obtain relief with the oral medication but it should work well for you so you can start sleeping. There is an 18:1 high CBD spray you may store in your refrigerator and if you have brain chatter, try a spray in your mouth to stop the chatter to help you sleep more effectively. If you wake in the night you may want to have a vape pen next to your bed with 1:1, CBD:THC to help you return to sleep if you wake during the night.\n\ndrolson","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_6616-markdown","title":"Is there a better product than Apothecanna body creme to help with my back pain?","slug":"is-there-a-better-product-than-apothecanna-body-creme-to-help-with-my-back-pain","content":"\n_____________________\nOur customers have found the Forest Nymph line of creams to be extremely helpful in battling pain of all kinds. Both THC, and CBD can be helpful for pain, and you can experiment with different combinations to find the best effect for your purpose.\n\nIf you have never used cannabis before, I would suggest that you start with a high CBD strain, or a tincture formulated for high CBD (which is generally non-psychoactive) and increase with moderate amounts of THC compounds gradually. As a fellow non-veteran woman with PTSD, I've also found I had easier access to pharmaceuticals than to therapy and I understand your frustrations. It's also difficult to find a medication only temporarily successful. While it's unclear to me what ratio of high CBD medication you tried first, and what the small increase of THC equated to in terms of ratio, I suggest trying something in the range of 4:1 - 1:1. Unless of course you have a very low tolerance to THC, in which case you might want to stick to 4:1 or above and stay at a low dose initially. We find that it's very worthwhile to try a couple different CBD rich medications with a bit of range on the ratios so that you can assess what may work best for you. This can be costly and it's worthwhile to take advantage of sampling events, sales, free gifts and donations where you can.\n\nYou bring up a very good point about how many patients have to troubleshoot before they find what ratio, dose, and delivery system works best for them. It's also important to consider that your dosing needs can potentially change over time as you develop a tolerance or as your body and wellness experiences change. I encourage patients not to give up and to work with advocacy organizations to request medications providers, dispensaries, and delivery services to offer more free samples so this process doesn't become financially taxing for those who are on a fixed income.\n\nWe also find a lot of benefit to taking notes of your experiences with various cannabis medications so that you can better suss out which options may be most effective for you in the long run. This \"note taking\" may also include your experiences with pharmaceutical medications as well as diet, exercise, and other natural medicine modalities - it's all about allowing you, and any caregivers or health practitioners you engage with, a full picture of your experience with wellness and health.\n\njessicapeters\n_____________________\nWe are sorry to hear of your challenges. We are very sensitive the struggles of PTSD as many of our customers come to us with concerns.\n\nAs @jessicaPeters has so eloquently laid out, patients often have to troubleshoot on their own and a journey of experimentation is ahead of them. You can use them for back pain AND menstrual cramps. Just be sure to wear a panty liner that day!:)\n\nthehighnote\n_____________________\nThe main three things I recommend for menstrual cramps are tinctures, suppositories, and topicals. All can be used discretely if you choose the right product. \r\n\r\nMoxie Meds has a 4:1 CBD:THC tincture that has a very mild scent and is potent, so you don't need to consume a lot. It can be dropped in your mouth or added to a beverage. The high CBD ratio means you can experience pain relief while keeping psychoactive effects to a minimum. I use 2-4 drops under my tongue for cramps. \r\n\r\nForia offers suppositories for menstrual pain. These would be undetectable and provide relief from cramps and associated pain. \r\n\r\nTopicals are fantastic for lower back pain. Sweet Releaf offers a topical that has a very mild odor, it smells more like a moisturizing balm. At home after work I suggest Om Edibles topical oil paired with a hot water bottle or heating pad.
