In spite of the fact that voters have passed Prop 64, the rules have yet to take effect and wont until at least January 2018. The different genetics and growing conditions also produce a variety of effects. Indica is generally more sedating, relaxing and is better for pain and is thought to put one \"in da couch\", while sativa is more stimulating and helps with energy, mood, and appetite. Hybrids are a mix of these two plant types. CBD and THC are also found in variable levels in different plant types. My reccomendation is to try a number of different varieties and see what works best for you.\n\nandrewvanmd","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_7169-markdown","title":"How does one in Florida obtain medical marijuana?","slug":"how-does-one-in-florida-obtain-medical-marijuana","content":"\n_____________________\nFlorida voters just passed a medical cannabis law that should provide more access to qualitfied patients. You can check them out here: http://www.marysmedicinals.com/products-properties/\n\nryan\n_____________________\nYou can get transdermal patches with us! We carry THC - Indica, CBD, and CBD/THC transdermal patches. You can find these patches, along with our other items, in our 100% organic and vegan menu here: https://greendoorwest.com/collections\n\ngreendoorwest\n_____________________\nThere are two approaches I would consider for this type of pain:\n\n1. Transdermal patches, as you suggested, can be helpful. These deliver a cannabis remedy systemically (ie. same as ingesting something but with less demand on the liver...and they tend to be 'slow-release' types). The best known patches are made by Mary's Medicinals and are widely available. I've seen them ranging for $10+ up depending on strength and your location.\n\n2. You may always want to try some cannabis topicals, which allow you to apply a cannabis-based solution directly on the are of pain/discomfort. Here is one article discussing options (https://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/the-top-3-cannabis-topicals-for-back-pain) but there are several others. Personally, I use one called Flower Power. All of these are also widely available.\n\nGood luck!\n\nLarry\n_____________________\nThis is a wonderful question! It looks like Marys Medicinals sells transdermal patches. Cannabis and the endocannabinoid system seem to have incredible potential to treat conditions that have been resistent to traditional treatments. Given the fact that cannabis has no toxic or overdose potential, it is one of the best medicines available. Which cannabinoids and terpenes are most beneficial? And in what ratios? And in what dose? And in what route of administration? These questions might be answered in the years to come. I think whole plant cannabis is far superior to any of the cannabinoids in isolation. Cannabis is an incredible teacher plant that will continue to show us how little we know about the processes of the body and how much more we have to learn. It would make sense to me that sunlight grown, organic (maybe bio-dynamic) cannabis that expresses a balanced ratio of cannabinoids, that is grown, harvested and processed with intention, love and care would provide the best medicine.\n\nandrewvanmd","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_7164-markdown","title":"will the cannabis oil work on lymth nodes that have cancer?","slug":"will-the-cannabis-oil-work-on-lymth-nodes-that-have-cancer","content":"\n_____________________\nActually, lymph nodes are garbage collection sites and we have them all over our body and they all drain to the chest. Once the lymph node is full of garbage it doesn't really function anymore but I don't think cleaning out the lymph node is the answer and your time might be better spent on increasing detoxification of the entire body especially the liver, the G.I. tract, the kidneys and the skin since these are areas of major detoxification of the body. \nIt is very difficult to get anything into a lymph node that is already filled with toxins such as cancer in order to get it cleaned out and that's why surgeons often times will remove abnormal lymph nodes. There is a process for whole body detoxification and even with lymph cancer it could lighten the load on the lymphatic system.\n\ndrolson\n_____________________\nThe simple answer to this is, no. There has not been any human trials of cannabis \"curing\" any type of cancer either in the lymph nodes or elsewhere. There have been some experiments in the laboratory that seem to show that cannabis can kille some types of cancer cells. With any type of cancer it is best to consult with your physician for the proper treatment.\nHowever if the question is modified to ask if cannabis can hurt your body if you do have cancer, my opinion is also no. The anti-inflammatory effects of cannabis as well as helping with peripheral neuropathy that can result from some chemotherapeutic drug treatments can be beneficial.\n\nPerry Solomon, MD","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_7163-markdown","title":"Is it possible to obtain medical marijuana with satisfying THC content levels, or does it tend to be more CBD?","slug":"is-it-possible-to-obtain-medical-marijuana-with-satisfying-thc-content-levels-or-does-it-tend-to-be-more-cbd","content":"\n_____________________\nMedical marijuana is the act of using cannabis for health and wellness reasons. So in answer to your question, once you are approved by a doctor to use cannabis for your medical concerns, you are able to use any type of cannabis product - with THC and CBD and anything else in-between. \n\nMost cannabis products tend to have THC in them, even the high CBD ones. The reason is that the cannabinoids work together to create their effect. Therefore, even if you are looking for a high CBD product, you may still want to have a small amount of THC in it to create what is know as the 'entourage effect'. Besides THC and CHD, there are lots of other cannabinoids that also work together to create this effect.\n\nmark","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_7161-markdown","title":"Edibles, vape or oil tincture? ","slug":"edibles-vape-or-oil-tincture","content":"\"I am planning on buying edibles and wanted to know if it would be more logical and less expensive to just buy the cannabis oil and apply it my food during snacks/meals\"\n_____________________\nI actually do this for my own edibles! It is kind of a creepy way to buy cannabis, but you can buy the oils in syringes (i guess their technically applicators... anyways I wish they would do it in a way that wasn't so creepy looking). You will want to double check that the oils have been decarboxylated as well. That way they are active when you ingest them.\n\nIf we do some quick math: I can find in a popular dispensary in SF, that a cannabis cookie of 120mg THC is $12. You can buy a gram applicator that is 70% THC for $40. That works out to 700mg for $40. We can already see the cost savings :)\n\nYou can also get a bit scientific with this and try to use edibles that are fatty to increase the bioavailability of your oil.\n\nBuying concentrates intended to be vaped or smoked will not work if they have not been properly decarb'ed, so you cannot just grab any hash oil unless you plan on decarboxylating the oil yourself. Care by Design makes a great 4-1 CBD:THC. I had a lot of success just dropping a dab of oil into a sandwich.\n\nryan","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_7160-markdown","title":"I need cannabis to help with insomnia","slug":"i-need-cannabis-to-help-with-insomnia","content":"\n_____________________\nA lot has already been written on using cannabis for insomnia. A major turning point in my realization that cannabis can be a very powerful medical tool was my discovery of Kurvana's Banana Smoothie vape cartridge. I've been using it almost daily for a couple months now and have noticed a remarkable difference in my overall anxiety levels. Banana Smoothie has both CBD and THC so for me it seems to provide the general mood boost of THC while the CBD regulates the head high so it doesn't interfere so much with cognitive abilities. It's a very clear-headed functional effect that quells my anxiety and allows me to process things more calmly throughout the day.\r\n\r\nI would recommend trying higher CBD products in general for anxiety. Personally I like the effects of a roughly balanced CBD to THC ratio, but if THC effects are not your thing you may still find relief with products that primarily contain CBD with little to no THC.\r\n\r\nHope you find something that works for you!\n\nbenson\n_____________________\nFor anxiety I have heard that anything >14:1 CBD:THC ratio is best. Also, I know people who treat anxiety with Cannabis by micro-dosing. A micro-dose product Ive tried are 5mg THC mints. I recommend starting with 1 and then adding more every 15-30 minutes until the desired sensation of calm is achieved. Few products are designed with micro-dosing in mind, and high THC levels can actually trigger anxiety.\n\nBartSmart\n_____________________\nFor starters, you are going to want to go with Indica or CBD strains and stay away from Sativa strains especially if you are a first time user. Sativa strains give you a \"head high\" that can backfire by giving the recipient anxiety. The Indica strains will give you a body calming affect, while CBD will give you the medical benefits of THC without the psychoactive qualities. \n\ngreendoorwest","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_7155-markdown","title":"Husband has severe arthritis in hand, cannabis oil has been recommended, what is best","slug":"husband-has-severe-arthritis-in-hand-cannabis-oil-has-been-recommended-what-is-best","content":"\n_____________________\nCananbis can be utilized in a number of ways for relief of arthritis.
