Crohn's symptoms seem to respond best to a balanced ratio of THC to CBD, so it could be that taking just a high ratio of CBD isn't going to be enough to give you sustained results. Sublingual tinctures come in varying ratios, and it's often best to get a few and try it for a week to see the overall effects. You can buy cannabis creams with menthol or try cannabis suppositories as an alternative to traditional over the counter hemorrhoid products. Hemorrhoid creams and suppositories that you buy over the counter have anti-inflammatory properties as well, but are derived usually from hydrocortisone which is a steroid. In addition, cannabis tends to create softer stools in patients, which can aid in recovery from hemorrhoids more quickly.\n\ndrb","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_10869-markdown","title":"Are cannabis tinctures with additional plants and herbs more effective?","slug":"are-cannabis-tinctures-with-additional-plants-and-herbs-more-effective","content":"\"I'm noticing a lot of tinctures, which are my favorite, seem to have a lot of different herbs or plants added into the mix now. Before it was just straight THC, CBD, etc. Does this make them better or possibly more effective? It seems like the homeopathic isle of Whole Foods is morphing with cannabis.\"\n_____________________\nIt depends on what you're looking to effect, but this is a great question. I actually make a number of herbal elixirs/tinctures which combine cannabis and other therapeutic herbs because, if done right, the synergy of these herbs together combine for much greater effect than if taken alone. You can check out herbabuena.com and review our elixir pages for more information.\n\nherbabuena\n_____________________\nTinctures are a very effective way to ingest medicine. The use of cannabis tincture was widespread in the 1800s and appeared in the US pharmacopeia until 1942. The absorption is rapid and begins to occur in the mucous membranes. The addition of other herbs and plants may increase the medicinal properties of the cannabis preparation. An herbalist may be the most qualified person to answer this question and I would reccomend that you direct your question to an experienced herbalist. In herbalism a \"simple\" is a preparation crafted from one plant, while combinations indicate more than one plant. Often, herbs, plants and medicines will interact to produce effects that are stronger than the sum of their parts (ie they work in synergy). I would also reccomend using your intuition and trying cannabis tinctures alone, and also in combination with other healing herbs. Take note of what works best for you, and be your own doctor!\n\nandrewvanmd\n_____________________\nThe synergistic effects or even the entourage effects become even better when cannabis is combined with other herbs and botanicals. As you may already know, many herbs and botanicals share the same common denominators of terpenes. \nTinctures are usually made with a high grade of alcohol, like grape or cane alcohol. The plant is then macerated/crushed, and immersed in the tincture for a particular length of time. During this time, the alcohol-soluble components of the plant (cannnabinoids and terpenes, and many more) are then slowly released and leached from the the plant material. People perform other processes to get the most benefits from the plant into the alcohol and that is their \"secret sauce\" in creating a wonderful tincture. \nIf you are looking to treat yourself for a particular ailment, it's best to identify what works for you. That would be hard to do if tinctures contain many herbs. It's akin to creating a marinade that has too many ingredients, and nature's magnificence is lost. Sometimes simple is the way to go. \nIf you're looking for overall vitality and no ailments, then herb combination with cannabinoids might be a solution. \nAs a scrutinizing consumer, I would wonder where the formulator got the additional herbs, if they have experience in working with and combining herbs, and why the herbs will help. I'd also look for clear and professionally documented labels. I've personally seen some products in the cannabis industry that would just say \"Women's Relief\" or something like that and not much other info. \nI always like to know the credentials of who created the products. \nGood luck. Let your nose be your guide in some cases. Your animal instincts will tell you a lot, if you listen.\n\ncheridevine","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_10862-markdown","title":"Are there CBD edibles?","slug":"are-there-cbd-edibles","content":"\"I love the taste of edibles, but the effects are way too strong. Auntie Dolores has an all CBD Brownie Bite. Many dispensaries carry gummies that are CBD dominant as well. When I look for a CBD edible I look to see if it is made from hemp or medical marijuana. My preference is for the latter as I believe in the entourage effect, where many different cannabinoids work together to provide relief, which for me is more effective than CBD only from hemp. If you still find the ratio of THC is too strong, you should look for a CBD-only product- though you do want to make sure it's whole plant sourced and there is a small amount of THC in there in order to activate the CBD's effects on your endocannabinoid system. I don't want to smoke it either, so I'm thinking a tincture, a cream or a vape, but i have no idea what to ask for. I used my medical card for the first time last weekend, and bought two vapes. One was 110mg of CBD and the other was 250mg of CBD. I was told to use the lower dose during the day and the higher one at night. But sadly, neither one has affected me at all. I have a very high tolerance to medicine in general. Could this be why? Energy drinks and caffeine don't touch me either. The next time I go in to purchase something I'd like to have a better idea of what I need.\"\n_____________________\nI would use a high CBD tincture like 18:1 Care by Design plus a topical balm if needed. You can go slow with the topical balm and see how you feel after the tincture.\n\njrec\n_____________________\nThe high concentrate CBD oil, smoked in a vape pen, may help both the pain and insomnia, if taken nightly. \nThe back pain relief may be augmented (helped more) with a topical product of medical marijuana.\nDispensaries may offer samples of the topicals to experience which works best for you.\n\ndrraisen\n_____________________\nCBD alone for back pain might work but it might not. You may want to review our Educational blurb on the entourage affectBecause when you do CBD and it has a low dose of THC, you will not be high but the THC supports the effectiveness of the CBD so book doing CBD alone you will miss that extra support. The topical cannabis salve that is CBD dominant works well to block muscle spasms and pain especially in your back and it will not make you high because it does not go systemic so I would question why you wouldn't want any THC in your salve If it makes it more effective. You do need a recommendation for the CBD with the THC.\nYou can also purchase a vapor pen with high CBD and very low THC ratio that will not make you high but it will help you get out of pain. If you are sensitive to the THC then keep the THC level very low. You may also try THCA, or juicing green buds.\nIt is nice to live life pain-free. Often the missed connection between back pain and freedom from back pain is a deficiency of vitamin D. Ideally your blood level of vitamin D3 should be above 55 ng/ML for optimal pain relief. If you are brown skinned, over 50 years old, take proton pump inhibitors or have any gastric absorption problems, You are likely vitamin D3 deficient and your doctor should measure your levels and You should consider supplementing rather than ruining your skin trying to get enough vitamin D from the sun.\n\ndrolson\n_____________________\nHonestly what people have been saying about the entourage effect with cannabis is true. Cannabinoids in themselves heightens the effectiveness of other medicines. But to truly answer this question one has to know a bit about the sources of your pain, insomnia and anxiety, as these are dual symptoms that could come from physical accidents or mental depression. The cure will be found in targeting the cause of the discomfort. Generally with these symptoms a combination of talk therapy and medicine is most effective. I would recommend a medicinal bar that I have actually created, it will give you a light buzz but as long as you stay in the recommended dose it will not get you very high. Less than a Xanax or Wellbutrin. Remember that cannabinoids increase the effectiveness of the mind's ability to make use of other medicine, so sometimes the best way to use cannabis compounds is to take them with a significantly lower dose of whatever else you used to take for this problem before. I can assume you were medicating the pain before you moved to cannabis? In case you don't find my product, the active ingredients are full indica flower and ashwagandha root. it is further supplemented with Gingko Bilbao, ginseng (and others in my energy bar) or in my anxiety bar there is also Kava. These combinations I have found work the very best for pain, insomnia and anxiety. My bar is called the e420 bar and my company is Whole Soul Holistic.\n\ne420bar\n_____________________\nEveryone's situation and CBD preferences are different. \n\nSince you prefer vaping, you might wish to try something stronger, Respira offers a 600mg option in a really popular grape-mint flavor: https://elixinol.com/product/cbd-vape-oil-600mg-respira-grape-mint/\n\nIf you're still not getting the results you want after you try it, feel free to reach to Dr. Philip Blair through our website, he can work with you to make serving size recommendations specific to your situation.\n\nelixinol\n_____________________\nIf cost is an issue, might I offer a very easy recipe for an infused oil/ topical with cannabis? It should be much cheaper than purchasing one and in my experience, pt's who make their own topicals seem to get more pain relief (perhaps love is the secret ingredient?). This recipe is very easy and all it requires is a slow cooker/ crock pot, 1 cup coconut oil (you can buy in bulk @ Costco), 15-17 grams of plant material (shake, flowers). You combine all three for 6-8 hrs at 250 degrees. Apply to the back, combine w/ use of heat pack. Don't forget to do myofascial release daily (I teach pts to do self massage using tennis/ racquet balls against a wall to provide pressure to localized myofascial points. Don't forget to ask health insurance if they cover basic PT sessions or provide accupuncture sessions like Kaiser and other plans. For non-chronic users, approximately 2.5-5mg is a good starting dose for symptomatic relief and sleep. Daily users may require a higher dose. The product you mention is likely a multi-dose package and can be divided somewhat proportionally to estimate a smaller dose.\n\nIn general, the higher the CBD to THC ratio, the less impact of the THC on cognition. 30% CBD indicates that approximately 30 percent of the cannabinoids in the product are CBD.
