The super high CBD/low THC is legal in all 50 states so you could acquire the high CBD cannabis as long as it is super low in THC and classified as hemp since this formulation would likely give you relief from your symptoms. You will need to take the high CBD cannabis for about 3 weeks before you can feel the benefits although the cannabis will be working for you. \nIn the meantime, consider having your genetic chart done since you may have a neurotransmitter problem that predisposes you to have the symptoms you are having. \nConsider reading Dr Amy Yasko's book, 'Feel Good', available on Amazon for $15.\nWhen you are feeling better and more stable, join the people in your state fighting for legal cannabis or consider moving to a legal state because it may be a while before cannabis is legal in all 50 states.\n\ndrolson","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_11333-markdown","title":"What is the best product for insomnia?","slug":"what-is-the-best-product-for-insomnia","content":"\"What from your menu would you suggest to help with my insomnia?  I smoke from time to time, but would prefer not to every night.  \"\n_____________________\nThat's a great question since there are so many different products out there with different ratios of THC:CBD. Our most successful, non-smoking product for insomnia is our 1:1 THC:CBD Tinctures. We've had patients suffering from insomnia ranging from totally healthy all the way to Stage 6 Alzheimer's that have been treated with the TreatWell 1:1 1oz Human Tincture and have found immense success in sleeping through the night. It is taken via a dropper attached to the lid and placed sublingually (under the tongue) for a few seconds and then swallowed. Results are typically seen in about 20 - 30 minutes. This is a fantastic and healthy alternative to smoking.\r\n\r\nThanks for the question!\n\ntyler\n_____________________\nOur \"Sweet Dreams Tincture\" contains organic herbs and spices. It is a mildly and naturally relaxing/calming tincture that is great for sleep disturbances, depression, menopausal symptoms and stress. We suggest to put one drop under your tongue one hour before bedtime. Shake well before using. Or you can drop intended dosage into a cup of near boiling water and let steep for a few minutes. This will evaporate the alcohol content for individuals who do not wish to ingest alcohol. another way is to put a dosage into 4 - 6 oz. of milk one hour before bedtime. To fill dropper insert dropper into tincture and press and release the bulb. Turn dropper upside down and press bulb. Insert dropper into tincture and release bulb. Repeat until dropper is full.\n\npetergdw","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_11304-markdown","title":"My  mom has trouble sleeping. Thanks for your advice!\"\n_____________________\nI'm jumping on this thread, as my mother just asked me to suggest a good edible to relax before bed. As a person that has NEVER tried cannabis, I want to be sure to start her off with something incredibly gentle. I'm thinking the chocolate covered blueberries for nighttime?\n\ndrjulicrockett\n_____________________\nAny Kiva chocolate product I've tried ultimately ended with me feeling relaxed and having great sleep.. For a beginner, always do a low dose and wait 45 minutes if they dont feel anything. A 10mg dose is plenty for me, but my brothers girlfriend started with a 5mg dose and was right where she wanted to be. Id recommend starting with 5mg. The chocolate covered blueberries are good, just remember to tell her not to eat more than needed! They are delicious but not a candy haha\n\ncannabear\n_____________________\nIf you take these before dinner, you'll find you have stronger, faster effects as your stomach will be empty. If you take them after dinner, they will digest with your food and it will take longer (thirty minutes to ninety minutes) for you to experience the effects. As with all edibles, we recommend starting with a 5MG dose until you find the perfect dose for your condition. Also note that Kiva's products contain hybrid strains - so if you have sensitivity to sativa, you may find them stimulating. If you don't have sensitivity to sativa, you will find the indica experience from Kiva products is appropriately soporific. Good luck!\n\nchristiestrong\n_____________________\nThough we have no trouble falling asleep, my boyfriend and I both have trouble staying asleep -- invariably he and I will wake up in the wee morning hours (somewhere between 3:30 and 5:30 am), our minds racing as we start filing through the hundred and one things we need to do that day, week and so on. That said, we've both used Kiva chocolate-covered blueberries (just 1 each) with great success. More recently, we've switched to the Kiva Petra mints which are only 2.5 mg per mint. I typically only take one at bed time, while my boyfriend takes 2 (for 5 mg total). If I'm having a particularly stressful week, I'll also take 2 mints -- I like the flexibility of being able to go from 2.5 to 5 depending on that night's needs. They not only work great for us, but they taste great too.\n\nlyp","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_11303-markdown","title":"Cannabis and bad dreams?","slug":"cannabis-and-bad-dreams","content":"\"I was using straight CBD drops for pain and sleep. I started at 6 drops and worked up to around 15 drops. I am a real lightweight. After using the drops for about a week I began to have really bad dreams. I started going back to just 4 or 5 drops. Still get the bad dreams. Do you have any ideas on how to bypass these bad dreams? \n\nAny suggestions on other products I could try?\"\n_____________________\nI have heard that once stopping THC use some people experience lucid dreams. To a certain extent, I have experienced it myself. Not necessarily bad dreams, bu very realistic. Something about THC makes me sleep in a way that makes me either not dream, or forget dreaming. So my advice would be to try something with a little THC in it and see if that will suppress your dreams. It does for me.\n\ncannabear\n_____________________\nYes, it can! To many, this is a surprise as people equate cannabis to a restful sleep and to many it is. The right amount of THC is linked to a shorter REM sleep and a deeper deep sleep cycle. Too much can cause anxiety and paranoia, the right amount induces sleep. \n\nSo what about CBD? CBD on its own has actually been shown to promote wakefulness which could be putting you into a longer and more active REM which is related to dream activity and the actual memory of that REM cycle.\n\nA few possible solutions. One, you could take CBD very early in the day and see if this diminishes your reaction. The other option might be to introduce THC into the equation close to bedtime. Take your drops and try a tincture or sublingual spray that is for sleep. Start very low and slow so you don't make it worse. I do one spray of a sublingual THC sleep spray and this helps me sleep through the night, like a log! Lastly, I find the way I react to different products varies. You may want to try a different brand and see if there is a change in how you react. I have noticed this myself, which is why I suggest this.\n\nEveryone reacts differently. I'm not a doctor, this is only my opinion based on my own knowledge. ","slug":"how-long-do-terra-bites-take-to-kick-in","content":"\"I want to try these for insomnia as Dr Gerhart suggested. When should I take them, and how many to start? Also, if these work can I take them every night or will they become less effective over time like sleeping pills do? Thanks for your advice.\"\n_____________________\nTerra Bites are great! From what I've seen, it takes 30-60 min to really get full effect from any edible. But when I first started using them I would wait 1 hour just to be safe before I increased my dose after hearing about to many edible horror stories. I've never had a problem. I always recommend a 5mg starter dose. You might feel it a little, or you might be exactly where you want to be off of that dose like a friend of mine is on that amount. I would say no higher than 10 mg for a beginner. Trust me. You can always increase your dose after 45 minutes if you don't feel anything, but overdoing it is much more uncomfortable\n\ncannabear\n_____________________\nThese are good for patients who rely on low-dose THC to treat their symptoms and conditions, as each ball only contains 5mg of THC. so you can eat up to 24 bite-sized pieces from one can. To treat insomnia typically any type, shape or form of Indica would help. (Note that edibles will take about 45 minutes to \"kick in\"... it can change according to how much you ate and how your body reacts to it.)  I recommend bite-size edibles while on-the-go or in-public situations, while working at the office or while traveling to my next destination. As a healthier alternative I recommend our Organic and Vegan Salted Almond pips  or Cinnamon red hot pips we carry at Green Door West. Similar to \"Kiva Terra Bites\",  only that they are vegan and organic!\n\npetergdw\n_____________________\nI love the Terra Bites too!  Wanted to address the second part of your question - you will become more tolerant to cannabis the more you use it, but unlike a sleeping pill you aren't going to suffer any withdrawals if you don't take your cannabis one night.  And, even though you'll become more tolerant, you'l find that taking a break for a day or two from your method of consumption usually brings you back to feeling the effects of the original/lower dose.  Cannabis is cumulative!\n\nbianca\n_____________________\nAlways try starting with a small dose - 5MG or less, which would be equivalent to one of our Terra Bites. Microdosing allows you to find your Minimum Effective Dose (MED), so you can treat your condition with the least amount of side effects. They will take anywhere from thirty minutes to an hour and a half to kick in depending on your height, weight, metabolism, the last time you've eaten, etc... One trick to experience edibles faster is letting soluble edibles (like those based in chocolate) melt beneath your tongue. This will make the onset happen faster, but it will cut down on the duration. If you're asleep, you shouldn't notice though ;) As for effectivity, you can keep your tolerance in check by either not raising your dose, or taking breaks when you find that you need a stronger dose for the same experience. Your endocannabinoid system resets after a period of no cannabis usage, so you can always bring your tolerance back down if you need to.\n\nchristiestrong","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_11270-markdown","title":"Willis / Ekbom Disease","slug":"willis-ekbom-disease","content":"\"If I am \"lucky\" I manage to sleep 2 or 3 hours a night; at times I sleep one night in three. Willis / Ekbom Disease presented when I was about 6 years old, and the symptoms have progressed to the point where I must move my legs constantly every time I lay down, and if I stop the sensations are so utterly torturous that I cannot keep my legs and feet at rest for more than a few seconds. In the past I have found that only an opioid helps me sleep, but I wish to avoid that route--- it's far too dangerous to grow dependent on an opioid to sleep.\n\nIs there any evidence that cannabis can help ease my suffering? At times I have contemplated killing myself because the lack of sleep, and the hellish torture of always having to move my feet and legs, becomes far greater than I can endure.\"\n_____________________\nYes cannabis can give you relief from your symptoms and help you achieve a good nights rest. I have spoken with many patients who have used cannabis to successfully treat restless leg syndrome (Willis/Ekbom Disease) and the insomnia that it causes. Often these patients have been suffering for many years and have tried a variety of medicines and therapies. I would reccomend an indica dominant strain, either vaporized or as a sublingual tincture. You may also want to find a strain high in CBN, which is quite sedating. Experiment with different strains and methods of consumption. Topicals massaged directly onto your legs might also provide relief. \n\nandrewvanmd\n_____________________\nSince I have studied nutrition for 45 years, It's really important to understand that restless leg syndrome maybe a sign that your homocysteine is too high. In some people a high homocysteine is anything over eight if you have a predisposition to heart disease or cancer and that is revealed in your genetic chart but your doctor can also do a test for MTHFR (methyltetrahydrofolatereductase). If you are either heterozygous or homozygous for MTHFR, it would be wise to greatly increase your CBD cannabis intake and add methylated B vitamins, morning and evening since this would likely take care of your restless legs syndrome. Your body can't call you on the telephone and say,\"We need more B vitamins to detoxify the body\" but it can give you restless leg syndrome until somebody recognizes that it is a toxicity that needs to be addressed. You may need more assimilated zinc and eating sprouted, organic quinoa could help greatly as well as additional vitamin B6 (P5P). Good luck, since this is a problem that shouldn't be covered up but you may need a functional medicine doctor to help you resolve the problem completely well still being able to enjoy your cannabis because cannabis does provide extra methyl groups that helps your body detoxify.\n\ndrolson\n_____________________\nHi there. Any solution?","slug":"insomnia-and-dry-mouth-both-keep-me-up-at-night-any-solution","content":"\"I have insomnia and use indica cannabis but dry mouth keeps me up at night. Is there a solution to this?\"\n_____________________\nI'm not a doctor but I do use cannabis for insomnia and I also know that this is a common problem. Dry mouth is caused by the CB1 and CB2 cannabinoid receptors and the regulatory control of the endocannabinoid system. For whatever reason, ingesting cannabis can inhibit saliva production. What I have understood on the subject is that THC is not responsible for this, but in my experience the more THC I consume, meaning the higher the % the more likely I am to experience this symptom. I also notice if I smoke I get this whereas I have an edible or a sub lingual spray it is less likely. There is much written to the contrary on that, but that is my experience!\n\nThere are some common  'what not to do' items when you have this symptom; which is to avoid alcohol, sugary drinks, coffee or anything salty.Commonsense really!\n\nWhat you should do if you plan to smoke before sleeping to combat insomnia is to drink a lot of water throughout the day, eat fruits like oranges, drink milk (weird I know) or chew sugarless gum. Let me say it again, drink tons of water throughout the day.\n\nLastly, it is a good idea that you get this under control if it is happening all the time. One of the only known negative health consequences of ingesting cannabis is oddly, gum disease. This is thought to be caused by dry mouth at night. Your saliva actually protects your gums and teeth while you sleep and dry mouth over a period of years will likely cause decay within your mouth.\n\nHere is a recent news segment we did on this topic:\nhttps://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/hellomd-live-episode-6\n\nHope this helps!\n\npamelahadfield","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_11247-markdown","title":"I have severe arthritis in my shoulder. I have tried Terra bites,Sensi chews, and Tetrahydrocannibinol with limited results.  Maybe I'm not taking enough, not sure how much to take. You may not feel the full effect of CBD for up to three weeks but it is working to stop the inflammatory disease and you should get some pain relief right away. Many people are taking too much THC in the evening and have trouble sleeping because it over stimulates the brain but the trick is to add enough CBD cannabis tincture under the tongue to bring your THC: CBD ratio to 1:1 or 1:2, to go to sleep. I think it's also greatly beneficial to rub your neck and shoulder area with CBD/THC salve or balm twice daily to stop the pain because it will block the signals from going to the brain for 4-6 hours, so you should sleep well.\nFor most patients high CBD/ low THC is more economically administered by using tincture since you pay by the dose, or by the drop for CBD, so you want to use the most effective concentration and the lease number of drops to get the job done. Unfortunately if you do not keep your shoulder mobile it can freeze so hopefully you have taken some physical therapy classes in how to mobilize your shoulder.\nUsing the cannabis should help you get well but again, CBD is the medicine and THC is a little more the party drug.\n\ndrolson","image":null}}]}},"pageContext":{"limit":12,"skip":180,"numPages":20,"currentPage":16,"id":5389,"name":"Insomnia","slug":"insomnia","country":"US"}},"staticQueryHashes":["3949754563","4179947113","4202924991"]}
