To me, if i have too much THC, I can actually have the opposite reaction of what I am wanting to achieve. This is called the biphasic effect - a little can go a long way to providing a good feeling and too much creates h=the wrong sensation. This is largely due to our individual tolerances, and these vary widely from person to person. If you ate 20mg this may have been too much. With edibles, if you are new the advice is to go 'low and slow' which is to start with 2-3 mg and wait 2 hours and see how it affects you, then take a little more. For myself, I top out at 5mg which is not much at all!\n\nInterestingly, high THC also gives me a headache, it feels like a tight band around my forehead. High CBD vapes or flower typically make me feel great. I also get a little psychoactive kick from it, whereas most people don't. My favorite right now is Level Blends 1:1 CBD to THC oil cartridge and I also love Bloom Farms ACDC which I think is a 3:1 CBD to THC. \n\nCBD is known to quell anxiety and THC is great for nausea, so I think the 1:1 may be a good place to start. Any oral medication can take up to 1 - 1 1/2 hours to feel any effect. Since the dose is small, you usually don't feel the psychoactive \"high\" that you would normally get with smoking or vaping cannabis. It can be a subtle feeling that you might not even recognize until you say \"hey, I've been feeling/thinking/focusing differently since I've been microdosing\"! As for feeling sick, it may have been the chocolate, but I cannot say. Most CBD tinctures are usually displayed with a ratio of CBD:THC so you may have a 20:1 which would be 20 parts CBD to 1 part THC. CBD does help with inflammation but in my experience, a CBD tincture does not help immediately with pain, it is something that when taken over a longer period of pain may help calm general inflammation and discomfort.\n\nI don't have arthritis but I have intense migraines. I found that when I started taking CBD tinctures it took about 2-3 months before i noticed a real decrease in my pain until finally I don't get them at all anymore. That said, everyone is different. I find a tincture with high CBD 20:1 followed by a tincture with 4:1 later in the day is what works best for me. \n\nTopicals vary and many yes, do smell terrible or can be greasy. Topicals are great because they provide localized relief and do not enter the blood stream. Two topicals I love are SweetReLeaf and FlowerPower. \n\nAnother thing you might consider is microdosing during the day very small amounts of THC in 1-2 mg which can help with pain and relax the body while you are still able to function mentally.
