About 40 million Americans are thought to suffer from some type of [anxiety disorder](https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/anxiety/symptoms-causes/syc-20350961); that’s a lot! And it’s completely normal to get anxious, but some people get stuck when it comes to how to deal with the issue. \n\nFor many, it can be embarrassing to seek help for anxiety, and for others, it can be hard to know where to look for help or where to start. Some people who experience anxiety have found that consuming cannabidiol, also known as **CBD**, effectively relieves anxious thoughts.\n  \n[CBD](https://hellomd.com/tag/cbd/) is a marijuana cannabinoid that doesn’t produce a head high like the other famous cannabinoid THC. But CBD has been shown to help temper anxiety.  \nFor example, in a [study done in 2011](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3079847/), a group of people suffering from social anxiety took either CBD or a placebo before a test. The subjects who consumed CBD felt less anxious, and their physiological signs of anxiety decreased compared to that of the placebo group. \n\n[CBD promotes neurogenesis](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/9472392/) which can have a calming effect on people leading to a decrease in anxiety. Most people don’t understand the difference between using marijuana with THC versus only using cannabis with CBD in it. THC products can have a tendency to put people’s minds into overdrive and paranoia, depending on the person. On the other hand, CBD doesn’t make consumers feel high like THC does.\n  \nIn general terms, CBD interacts with the [endocannabinoid systems](https://hellomd.com/articles/what-is-the-endocannabinoid-system) (ECS). This is a system of receptors found in most places in the body. The RCS regulates various conditions and body processes, including anxiety. CBD also interacts with the serotonin receptors in the brain; lack of serotonin can often be the principal cause of anxiety. CBD acts similarly to prescribed SSRIs, blocking the reabsorption of serotonin in the brain. This makes serotonin more available in the synaptic space, increasing serotonin signaling, resulting in a happier and more stress-free mood.  \n\nAnother way CBD induces a calming effect on the mind and body is because it blocks an enzyme called FAAH, or fatty acid amide hydrolase, which lowers the neurotransmitter and endocannabinoid called anandamide. [Anandamide](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anandamide) is also known as the bliss molecule because it imparts feelings of pleasure to the rest of your body. So, because CBD blocks FAAH, it boosts the levels of the “bliss molecule,” which in turn lowers anxiety levels.  \n \nTaylor C.\n\n__________________________________\n\n![Untitledval113.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitledval113_348d315dc0.png)\n\nPrescription medication is often given to people with chronic stress or anxiety. The main issue with [SSRIs](https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/depression/in-depth/ssris/art-20044825) is that they can leave patients feeling emotionally numb and can also be highly addictive. But according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, “[CBD has shown therapeutic efficacy](https://archives.drugabuse.gov/testimonies/2015/biology-potential-therapeutic-effects-cannabidiol) in a range of animal models of anxiety and stress, reducing both behavioral and physiological measures of stress and anxiety.”\n \nResearch has also shown that regular use of cannabis isn’t associated with toxicity, so you can use CBD products as much as you please to ease your anxiety. But, before starting the use of medical cannabis, it is always important to consult your doctor to make sure it’s a safe choice for you. \n\nCBD has a leg up on SSRIs because researchers have noted that antidepressant and anti-anxiety effects of CBD work much faster than SSRIs. This is because CBD affects the serotonin in your brain at a more rapid pace than traditional SSRI medications. Additionally, CBD has been rated by the world health organization as safe, generally well-tolerated, and without the potential for abuse or dependence.\n\nGlenna R.\n\n","image":{"childImageSharp":{"fluid":{"base64":"data:image/png;base64,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","aspectRatio":1,"src":"/static/c357e466e50fedf6741e4fd615eeff0e/ee604/e9cce237633398577a7258e5cd62d519.png","srcSet":"/static/c357e466e50fedf6741e4fd615eeff0e/69585/e9cce237633398577a7258e5cd62d519.png 200w,\n/static/c357e466e50fedf6741e4fd615eeff0e/497c6/e9cce237633398577a7258e5cd62d519.png 400w,\n/static/c357e466e50fedf6741e4fd615eeff0e/ee604/e9cce237633398577a7258e5cd62d519.png 800w,\n/static/c357e466e50fedf6741e4fd615eeff0e/f3583/e9cce237633398577a7258e5cd62d519.png 1200w","srcWebp":"/static/c357e466e50fedf6741e4fd615eeff0e/58556/e9cce237633398577a7258e5cd62d519.webp","srcSetWebp":"/static/c357e466e50fedf6741e4fd615eeff0e/61e93/e9cce237633398577a7258e5cd62d519.webp 200w,\n/static/c357e466e50fedf6741e4fd615eeff0e/1f5c5/e9cce237633398577a7258e5cd62d519.webp 400w,\n/static/c357e466e50fedf6741e4fd615eeff0e/58556/e9cce237633398577a7258e5cd62d519.webp 800w,\n/static/c357e466e50fedf6741e4fd615eeff0e/99238/e9cce237633398577a7258e5cd62d519.webp 1200w","sizes":"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px"}}}}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12610-markdown","title":"What are some good cannabis products for daytime anxiety relief? The two main components of cannabis are **THC** and cannabidiol also known as **CBD**. THC is the component of cannabis that is most familiar to people and is responsible for marijuana’s euphoric effect. The other component, cannabidiol (CBD), is thought to relax the mind and body. CBD is the component medical marijuana practitioners suggest should be present in higher concentrations in cannabis products when used to treat anxiety.\n\nDifferent strains of cannabis will have varying effects on each user, but there are some key characteristics to look out for when choosing daytime cannabis. Understanding the differences between **Indica**, **Hybrid**, and **Sativa** can help you navigate the many different strains of cannabis and the varying effects each produces. [Indica](https://hellomd.com/tag/indica/) is traditionally recommended for nighttime use, as its sedative and sleepy effects can leave you feeling tired and ready for bed. \n\n[Sativa](https://hellomd.ca/tag/sativa) strains are far from a sedative; therefore, they are usually recommended for daytime use as Sativa is energizing and tends to have noticeable effects on mental activity. Similar to Indica, Sativa provides relief from pain and anxiety. [Hybrid](https://hellomd.com/tag/hybrid/) strains usually apply to marijuana strains that have characteristics of both Indica and Sativa. Many Hybrids have a grounding effect, neither sedative nor energetic, but instead helps maintain balanced energy. For these reasons, Hybrids are an excellent choice for either daytime or nighttime use.  \n \nJason R.\n\n__________________________________   \n \n![Untitledval111.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitledval111_f629baba90.png)\n\nIt can often be hard to find a strain that can help soothe anxiety and also won’t make you fall asleep. But I’ve found quite a few strains that have helped my daytime anxiety while I continue to work and be productive throughout the day. \n \n[Cannatonic](https://hellomd.ca/strains/cannatonic) is a great strain with higher levels of CBD relative to THC, which means it won’t create psychoactive effects – perfect for daytime use. This strain is best known for creating happy and uplifting feelings, making this hybrid strain best to treat anxiety and depression. [Verilife](https://www.verilife.com/) sells a great Cannatonic x ACDC full spectrum vape cartridge that works great; vaping this product will produce immediate effects.\n  \nAnother great strain I found works amazing for anxiety relief during the day is [Durban Poison](https://hellomd.com/strains/durban-poison). Durban Poison has a THC content that can get up to 24%. This is an excellent strain for those who want zen during their day but also want to stay productive. Consumers of Durban Poison typically report that the strain doesn’t make them sleepy or drowsy, perfect for everyday use. This strain is Sativa and, from my experience and many others, is excellent for anxiety and chronic pain. Verilife also sells this strain in a vaporizer.\n\nRobert P.","image":{"childImageSharp":{"fluid":{"base64":"data:image/png;base64,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","aspectRatio":1,"src":"/static/976ce12945e8a559c9689ea9fa6a6b00/ee604/539c8b050891ac55299b3724eb935d4d.png","srcSet":"/static/976ce12945e8a559c9689ea9fa6a6b00/69585/539c8b050891ac55299b3724eb935d4d.png 200w,\n/static/976ce12945e8a559c9689ea9fa6a6b00/497c6/539c8b050891ac55299b3724eb935d4d.png 400w,\n/static/976ce12945e8a559c9689ea9fa6a6b00/ee604/539c8b050891ac55299b3724eb935d4d.png 800w,\n/static/976ce12945e8a559c9689ea9fa6a6b00/f3583/539c8b050891ac55299b3724eb935d4d.png 1200w","srcWebp":"/static/976ce12945e8a559c9689ea9fa6a6b00/58556/539c8b050891ac55299b3724eb935d4d.webp","srcSetWebp":"/static/976ce12945e8a559c9689ea9fa6a6b00/61e93/539c8b050891ac55299b3724eb935d4d.webp 200w,\n/static/976ce12945e8a559c9689ea9fa6a6b00/1f5c5/539c8b050891ac55299b3724eb935d4d.webp 400w,\n/static/976ce12945e8a559c9689ea9fa6a6b00/58556/539c8b050891ac55299b3724eb935d4d.webp 800w,\n/static/976ce12945e8a559c9689ea9fa6a6b00/99238/539c8b050891ac55299b3724eb935d4d.webp 1200w","sizes":"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px"}}}}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12609-markdown","title":"Which is better to help with anxiety, THC or CBD?","slug":"which-is-better-to-help-with-anxiety-thc-or-cbd","content":"**“I’m a long time user of THC products, but due to the pandemic, have found myself more anxious than normal. It is a potent anxiolytic and is very effective in reducing anxiety. **Tetrahydrocannabinol** or [THC](https://hellomd.com/tag/thc/) can reduce anxiety when taken in low doses. However, it can exacerbate anxiety at high doses and cause panic attacks depending on the consumer. Every person responds differently to cannabis, and what a high dose is to one person, it may not be to another.\n\nWhen taking a closer look at medical studies, it is evident that the chemical makeup of Cannabidiol is the primary cannabinoid and ingredient which [treats anxiety effectively](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4604171/). While a healthy ratio of CBD to THC can effectively treat anxiety, too much THC in an anxious person can lead to feelings of paranoia. Alternatively, CBD has the opposite effect. Studies have shown that CBD can, on its own, lower, and in certain circumstances, eliminate anxiety. \n\nScientists believe that CBD works to reduce anxiety because of how it interacts with the serotonin receptors in the brain. CBD blocks the reabsorption of serotonin in the brain, making serotonin more available in the synaptic space increasing serotonin signaling.  \n\nWith all this being said, for those looking to remedy anxiety disorders with cannabis, your treatment will rely more heavily on your dosing and less on the specifics of the strain. Using cannabis is highly individual, so it is essential to first experiment with some trial and error to discover your perfect dose.  \n \nDavid T.\n\n__________________________________ \n\n![Untitledval108.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitledval108_46242e6f55.png)\n \nThose looking to use medical marijuana to treat anxiety should be in the market for strains with higher levels of CBD; this can be a flower, tincture, vape pen, or edible. For those just beginning their medical cannabis journey, a CBD-dominant tincture or hybrid strain is highly recommended. Finding your proper dose can be done quickly by experimenting with ratios, starting with a very high [CBD:THC ratio](https://hellomd.com/articles/quick-guide-to-finding-your-ideal-cbd-to-thc-ratio) such as 30:1 or 10:1. Take a small dose and titrate up as necessary.\n\nWhen treating anxiety with cannabis, your best bet is a low dose of a high CBD strain or a hybrid strain with higher CBD levels. If you’re looking for immediate relief from anxiety from something like an anxiety attack, vaping CBD oil may be a good idea as the effects kick in almost automatically. However, suppose you want a cannabis product that will allow you to maintain a steady flow of relief throughout the day. In that case, ingesting CBD sublingually or orally at regular intervals may be a better option. \n\nSo, while a few puffs of a CBD vape pen may provide immediate anxiety relief, a better long-term solution would be allowing CBD to build up in your system through consistent CBD ingestion. [VerIlife]((https://www.verilife.com/what-is-marijuana/what-products-are-right-for-me).) gives a great explanation of how to find your correct dosing and correct cannabis products.\n\nOverall, when treating anxiety with cannabis, CBD is most often the better option. But, again, every person is different, and for some, THC may be more stress-relieving than CBD. If you’re just starting the use of cannabis for anxiety, it is recommended that you start with CBD over THC.\n\nAnne E.","image":{"childImageSharp":{"fluid":{"base64":"data:image/png;base64,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","aspectRatio":1,"src":"/static/223e10ef0d2dbd3599a6bcdfb3475b56/ee604/f74d0f40c726fced13de6df1856eadfb.png","srcSet":"/static/223e10ef0d2dbd3599a6bcdfb3475b56/69585/f74d0f40c726fced13de6df1856eadfb.png 200w,\n/static/223e10ef0d2dbd3599a6bcdfb3475b56/497c6/f74d0f40c726fced13de6df1856eadfb.png 400w,\n/static/223e10ef0d2dbd3599a6bcdfb3475b56/ee604/f74d0f40c726fced13de6df1856eadfb.png 800w,\n/static/223e10ef0d2dbd3599a6bcdfb3475b56/f3583/f74d0f40c726fced13de6df1856eadfb.png 1200w","srcWebp":"/static/223e10ef0d2dbd3599a6bcdfb3475b56/58556/f74d0f40c726fced13de6df1856eadfb.webp","srcSetWebp":"/static/223e10ef0d2dbd3599a6bcdfb3475b56/61e93/f74d0f40c726fced13de6df1856eadfb.webp 200w,\n/static/223e10ef0d2dbd3599a6bcdfb3475b56/1f5c5/f74d0f40c726fced13de6df1856eadfb.webp 400w,\n/static/223e10ef0d2dbd3599a6bcdfb3475b56/58556/f74d0f40c726fced13de6df1856eadfb.webp 800w,\n/static/223e10ef0d2dbd3599a6bcdfb3475b56/99238/f74d0f40c726fced13de6df1856eadfb.webp 1200w","sizes":"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px"}}}}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12608-markdown","title":"What are the best cannabis strains for anxiety? Indica, Hybrid, or Sativa? ","slug":"what-are-the-best-cannabis-strains-for-anxiety-indica-hybrid-or-sativa","content":"**“I’m looking to start using cannabis for my anxiety, but I’m not sure which strain is best.”** \n\nSamuel R. \n\n_________________________________________________________\n \n![Untitledval104.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitledval104_01d4556a44.png)\n\nIndica, Hybrid, and Sativa are all great categories of cannabis with varying purposes. These names are scattered all around the cannabis world, so chances are you’ve heard of them. With that being said, understanding the differences between the three and their strengths can sometimes be challenging. If you find yourself unsure of what these terms mean, don’t worry, you’re not alone.  \nUnderstanding the differences between **Indica**, **Hybrid**, and **Sativa** can help you navigate the many different strains of cannabis and the varying effects each produces.\n\n[Indica](https://hellomd.com/tag/indica/) is traditionally recommended for nighttime use, as its sedative and sleepy effects can leave you feeling tired and ready for bed. With that being said, some people find Indica to be relaxing during the day as well. Indica is most known for its “body high” and is typically helpful with anxiety, chronic pain, chronic tension, and sleep disorders.\n\n[Sativa](https://hellomd.ca/tag/sativa) strains are far from a sedative; therefore, they are usually recommended for daytime use as Sativa is energizing and tends to have noticeable effects on mental activity. Sativa can promote focus and creativity or sometimes leave your mind hazy depending on the strain. Like Indica, Sativa provides relief from pain and anxiety but can also be the source of anxiety for users who are extra sensitive to Sativa's effects.\n\n[Hybrid](https://hellomd.com/tag/hybrid/) strains usually apply to marijuana strains that have characteristics of both Indica and Sativa. This means that Hybrid strains can vary more dramatically because of all the possible combinations of characteristics. Many Hybrids have a grounding effect, neither sedative nor energetic, but instead helps maintain balanced energy. For these reasons, Hybrids are an excellent choice for either daytime or nighttime use. Those who use Hybrids generally prefer them for pain and anxiety relief as well as for flexibility between day and nighttime use.  \n\nJohn S.\n_____________________________________________________________\n\n![Untitledval105.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitledval105_a7024478dd.png)\n \nThere really isn’t one strain that is better than the other as Indica, Hybrid, and Sativa all have calming properties that can help relieve anxiety symptoms. Every user will have a different reaction to varying strains. You know your body better than anyone else and what works best to [treat your anxiety](https://adai.uw.edu/pubs/pdf/2017mjanxiety.pdf) is up to you.\n   \nChoosing the best strain for your individual anxiety needs depends on what kind of treatment you’re looking for. If you’re looking to be relaxed, a Sativa dominant strain with high levels of CBD and lower levels of THC is highly recommended. A great example is [ACDC](https://hellomd.ca/strains/acdc), which has a 20:1 CBD to THC ratio. ACDC is highly effective at reducing anxiety, with little to no psychoactivity due to its high ratio of CBD to THC. Users have reported feeling relaxed and happy when they consume this strain. You can consume ACDC through smoking flower, teas, capsules, or tinctures and this strain is common and available at most dispensaries.\n\nIf you’re looking for a hybrid strain, [Canna-Tsu](https://hellomd.com/strains/canna-tsu) is a mix of Cannatonic and Sour Tsunami and is known for its higher levels of CBD. That said, it has a 1:1 ratio of CBD and THC. Canna-Tsu is said to produce calming effects and mental clarity and has been shown to be very effective in reducing anxiety levels. An added bonus of this strain is its anti-inflammatory benefits. Canna-Tsu can be used at any time of the day as its balanced ratio won’t make you too tired or too wired.\n\nFor those who have experimented with reducing anxiety through cannabis and have found that their needs are met through Indica strains, [Haoma](https://hellomd.com/strains/haoma) is a great option. Haoma is a 70% Indica strain that has calming and stress-relieving effects. It is typically found at a 1:1 ratio of CBD to THC; this means some may experience psychoactive effects as these effects are common with Indica use. Haoma is very effective at reducing anxiety due to its high CBD levels. While this strain will leave you with calming effects, it is unlikely to knock you out; therefore, Haoma is another excellent option for daytime use.\n\nPaul A.","image":{"childImageSharp":{"fluid":{"base64":"data:image/png;base64,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","aspectRatio":1,"src":"/static/1a5193e5f0d956d84d57265f52008a9c/ee604/c81a0b0dad114d0592c6f384e145e6cf.png","srcSet":"/static/1a5193e5f0d956d84d57265f52008a9c/69585/c81a0b0dad114d0592c6f384e145e6cf.png 200w,\n/static/1a5193e5f0d956d84d57265f52008a9c/497c6/c81a0b0dad114d0592c6f384e145e6cf.png 400w,\n/static/1a5193e5f0d956d84d57265f52008a9c/ee604/c81a0b0dad114d0592c6f384e145e6cf.png 800w,\n/static/1a5193e5f0d956d84d57265f52008a9c/f3583/c81a0b0dad114d0592c6f384e145e6cf.png 1200w","srcWebp":"/static/1a5193e5f0d956d84d57265f52008a9c/58556/c81a0b0dad114d0592c6f384e145e6cf.webp","srcSetWebp":"/static/1a5193e5f0d956d84d57265f52008a9c/61e93/c81a0b0dad114d0592c6f384e145e6cf.webp 200w,\n/static/1a5193e5f0d956d84d57265f52008a9c/1f5c5/c81a0b0dad114d0592c6f384e145e6cf.webp 400w,\n/static/1a5193e5f0d956d84d57265f52008a9c/58556/c81a0b0dad114d0592c6f384e145e6cf.webp 800w,\n/static/1a5193e5f0d956d84d57265f52008a9c/99238/c81a0b0dad114d0592c6f384e145e6cf.webp 1200w","sizes":"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px"}}}}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12607-markdown","title":"What are the best medical marijuana dispensaries in Louisiana?","slug":"what-are-the-best-medical-marijuana-dispensaries-in-louisiana","content":"**\"What are the best medical marijuana dispensaries to go to in Louisiana?\"**\n \n \nAlan S.\n\n____________________________________\n\n![Untitled71.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled71_be160d9591.png)\n\nThat's a loaded question. The only legit cannabis in Louisiana is medical marijuana. To buy it, you must have [your medical marijuana certification](https://hellomd.com/get-started). To get your certification requires going to a state-licensed physician for either an in-person visit or Telehealth appointment. If you meet one of the [qualifying conditions on the state's](https://norml.org/laws/medical-laws/louisiana-medical-marijuana-law/) list, you will most likely be approved for certification. After this, the doctor adds you to the state's cannabis registry.\n\nOnce you're registered with the state, the certification is sent to dispensaries. At this point, you choose a dispensary to visit and purchase your marijuana. \n\nAs for the best dispensaries in Louisiana, it really depends on where you live. In Boston, I use medical cannabis for pains related to sports injuries. I don’t get the impression that marijuana regulations are as open as they are up here. What kinds of marijuana laws do they have?”**\n\n**Stacey P.**\n\n_______________________________\n\n![Untitled69.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled69_639bbf2864.png)\n\nThey aren’t as far advanced as Boston, but they’re getting there. For one thing, recreational or adult-use cannabis is **still illegal**. With the passage of [Act 261](https://www.legis.la.gov/legis/ViewDocument.aspx?d=960317) (known as the Alison Neustrom Act), medical marijuana was legalized in 2015.\n\nThere were a couple of problems with the act, such as using the word “prescribe.” Because weed is a Schedule 1 drug and illegal federally, physicians can’t write prescriptions. So the first actual sales weren’t until 2019.\n\nNow state-licensed physicians can review a patient’s medical history, see if they have a qualifying medical condition, and then add their name to the statewide cannabis registry. The patient would take this recommendation, or the physician would send it, to the dispensary of the patient’s choice, which would check it against Louisiana’s cannabis registry. Then the patient can buy legal, medical cannabis.\n\nSo it makes good sense for you to [get your certification](https://www.hellomd.com/get-started/louisiana) in Louisiana, so you have legal access to a quality-controlled supply of medical marijuana.\n\nRoger R.\n\n_______________________________\n\n![Untitled67.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled67_cda2bf632e.png)\n\nRight. You must refill your medical marijuana prescription every 90 days, and the maximum amount you can buy at a time is a 30-day supply. For marijuana flower, the limit is 2.5 ounces over 14 days. Marijuana flower became legal on Jan. 1, 2022. Before, it was just things like oils and tinctures.\n\nIt’s essential to observe the [medical cannabis laws](https://norml.org/laws/medical-laws/louisiana-medical-marijuana-law/) in Louisiana so you don’t wind up on the wrong side of the law.\n\nYou can’t use a medical card from another state to buy cannabis. You also can’t designate a caregiver to buy it on behalf of you, as you can elsewhere. And you can’t grow your weed, even if you are a medical patient on the state’s cannabis registry.\n\nLouisiana has a sliding scale of penalties for illegal possession of weed, starting with a fine of up to $300, and imprisonment for up to 15 days for up to 14g of the substance. And it can go up to 10 to 60 years in prison, and a maximum $100,000 fine, for a second conviction of dealing cannabis. So it’s a good idea to walk the straight and narrow down here.\n\nSandra S.\n\n_______________________________\n\n![Untitled68.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled68_7748aee773.png)\n\nNot surprisingly, it’s [illegal to drive under the influence (DUI)](https://norml.org/laws/drugged-driving/louisiana-drugged-driving/) of cannabis. If a chemical test of your breath, blood, or urine indicates you are stoned, then you would receive a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 days to six months in jail. This would be accompanied by a $300 to $1,000 fine, entering into a court-mandated substance abuse program, and participating in a court-ordered driver improvement program. All but 48 hours of jail time could be suspended by doing community service. \n\nSubsequent offenses would cost you even more dearly. For example, for your fourth offense, there’s a mandatory $5,000 fine and jail time of 10 to 30 years (all but two years of jail time can be suspended). Your vehicle can also be seized and sold, with the proceeds forfeited to the state. Your license could be suspended for two years, and you’d receive mandatory psychological testing.\n\nSo drive clean and sober.\n\nCarolyn M.\n","image":{"childImageSharp":{"fluid":{"base64":"data:image/png;base64,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","aspectRatio":1,"src":"/static/13e5adfe4e9bcfb9c0351b00594d15f4/ee604/2ba21233b7668b9206687e21fb8e1817.png","srcSet":"/static/13e5adfe4e9bcfb9c0351b00594d15f4/69585/2ba21233b7668b9206687e21fb8e1817.png 200w,\n/static/13e5adfe4e9bcfb9c0351b00594d15f4/497c6/2ba21233b7668b9206687e21fb8e1817.png 400w,\n/static/13e5adfe4e9bcfb9c0351b00594d15f4/ee604/2ba21233b7668b9206687e21fb8e1817.png 800w,\n/static/13e5adfe4e9bcfb9c0351b00594d15f4/f3583/2ba21233b7668b9206687e21fb8e1817.png 1200w","srcWebp":"/static/13e5adfe4e9bcfb9c0351b00594d15f4/58556/2ba21233b7668b9206687e21fb8e1817.webp","srcSetWebp":"/static/13e5adfe4e9bcfb9c0351b00594d15f4/61e93/2ba21233b7668b9206687e21fb8e1817.webp 200w,\n/static/13e5adfe4e9bcfb9c0351b00594d15f4/1f5c5/2ba21233b7668b9206687e21fb8e1817.webp 400w,\n/static/13e5adfe4e9bcfb9c0351b00594d15f4/58556/2ba21233b7668b9206687e21fb8e1817.webp 800w,\n/static/13e5adfe4e9bcfb9c0351b00594d15f4/99238/2ba21233b7668b9206687e21fb8e1817.webp 1200w","sizes":"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px"}}}}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12605-markdown","title":"Can you legally grow medical marijuana in Louisiana?","slug":"can-you-legally-grow-medical-marijuana-in-louisiana","content":"**“I’m a medical weed user in New Iberia but am finding the cost kind of high. Louisiana has taken small but significant steps since making legal, medical cannabis available in 2019. For example, a [shortlist of conditions](https://ldh.la.gov/) that had to be met, and recommended by state-certified doctors, was first expanded then thrown right open.\n\nNow any licensed doctor in the state can recommend medical marijuana for their Louisiana patients for just about any kind of debilitating medical condition. While you might not be able to grow your own weed legally — or buy it lawfully as a recreational user — this could change as the state responds to residents’ wishes to have these things.\n\nStill, it’s worthwhile [getting a medical marijuana card](https://hellomd.com/get-started) in Louisiana to access a safe and quality-controlled supply of cannabis and avoid the consequences of being caught and facing possession charges and fines.\n\nAlafair M.\n\n__________________________________\n\n![Untitled65.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled65_b49450ec38.png)\n\nActually, Louisiana doesn’t have a medical card system. You have to see a doctor licensed in the state, and they [make a recommendation](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabis_in_Louisiana#:~:text=Cannabis%20in%20Louisiana%20is%20legal,recommendation%20for%20any%20debilitating%20condition) to the statewide medical cannabis registry. This certification allows a state-licensed dispensary to sell you cannabis.\n\nOf course, some doctors know more about medical marijuana than others, so it’s a good idea to find one who is willing to recommend you and has kept up with the fast-evolving field of cannabis medicine. That’s why it’s worth checking out the services of [HelloMD](https://hellomd.com/) to help you get your medical certification in Louisiana. \n\nHelloMD’s medical practitioners are well-versed in the pros and cons of medical marijuana and how it might help you with your condition. In a convenient telehealth appointment, they’ll review your medical history and answer any questions you might have. After they add you to the cannabis registry and their recommendation is received by the dispensary you’ve designated, you are able to buy your cannabis products — up to a 30 days’ supply at a time, or 2.5 ounces of dry flower every two weeks.\n\nJames L.\n\n__________________________________\n\n![Untitled66.png](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Untitled66_97c42b91cb.png)\n\nThe times do seem to be changing in the Bayou State. Even in the Big Easy, it’s easier to buy medical weed these days. At the beginning of 2022, [Louisiana added raw smokable weed](https://www.wafb.com/2022/01/02/smokable-medical-marijuana-now-available-louisiana-patients/) to the list of products available for patients.\n\nOther forms accepted in the state include oils, extracts, tinctures, sprays, capsules, pills, solutions, suspension, gelatin-based chewables, lotions, transdermal patches, and suppositories.\n\nThe government also approved the home-delivery of medical marijuana from dispensaries. As a side note, it’s interesting to see that Louisiana’s food delivery company [Waitr is teaming up with Flow Payments](https://www.theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/news/business/article_b060acb4-7d3c-11eb-a06c-9f33225672fe.html) to create a specialized platform to sell and deliver legal cannabis in states where it’s allowed. These days you can get quite literally anything delivered to your front door within a few minutes of placing an order. Especially with the pandemic, everyone has settled into the idea of home deliveries.  \n \nSo, it should come as no shock that [qualified medical marijuana patients in New York](https://hellomd.com/get-started/new-york/) will now be able to count medical marijuana as yet another item they can have delivered right to their door. These days, consumers want convenience, and these delivery services aim to please. [Read more on how to find the best delivery service and dispensary here](https://hellomd.com/articles/choosing-a-cannabis-dispensary-or-delivery-service)\n \nIn some cases, getting to a dispensary can be challenging. Whether it’s the New York City traffic, the weather, or maybe you just don’t want to leave your house on any given day, these delivery services have got you covered. Dispensaries such as [PharmaCann](https://www.pharmacann.com/)/[Verilife](https://www.verilife.com/about-verilife), who now offer delivery, can now more than ever accommodate the needs of all their patients. [This article highlights some of Verilife’s best products](https://hellomd.com/articles/new-york-weed-companies-with-innovative-marijuana-products).  \n \nPatients can call and talk to a pharmacist, schedule their delivery, and then a courier brings the patient’s items wherever they need to go. You can customize the time and place you want your cannabis to be dropped off; some delivery services also have cashless interactions. While patients shouldn’t initially expect their medicine to be delivered in the same amount of time it takes to request an Uber…plans, expect the program to adopt and scale quickly.  \n \nIf you are partial to a particular dispensary in New York that doesn’t offer delivery services, picking up medical cannabis on your own can be just as easy. Budtenders behind the counter and pharmacists can help you customize your purchase to your specific needs. Workers at the dispensaries can answer any questions you have about medical or recreational cannabis. Simply ask your questions, make your purchase, and be on your way!\n\nPolly S.\n\n","image":{"childImageSharp":{"fluid":{"base64":"data:image/png;base64,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","aspectRatio":1,"src":"/static/117783afe304944dc35d3bc55c7532c5/ee604/2469ceebde6b957f1899d745f6adeda1.png","srcSet":"/static/117783afe304944dc35d3bc55c7532c5/69585/2469ceebde6b957f1899d745f6adeda1.png 200w,\n/static/117783afe304944dc35d3bc55c7532c5/497c6/2469ceebde6b957f1899d745f6adeda1.png 400w,\n/static/117783afe304944dc35d3bc55c7532c5/ee604/2469ceebde6b957f1899d745f6adeda1.png 800w,\n/static/117783afe304944dc35d3bc55c7532c5/f3583/2469ceebde6b957f1899d745f6adeda1.png 1200w","srcWebp":"/static/117783afe304944dc35d3bc55c7532c5/58556/2469ceebde6b957f1899d745f6adeda1.webp","srcSetWebp":"/static/117783afe304944dc35d3bc55c7532c5/61e93/2469ceebde6b957f1899d745f6adeda1.webp 200w,\n/static/117783afe304944dc35d3bc55c7532c5/1f5c5/2469ceebde6b957f1899d745f6adeda1.webp 400w,\n/static/117783afe304944dc35d3bc55c7532c5/58556/2469ceebde6b957f1899d745f6adeda1.webp 800w,\n/static/117783afe304944dc35d3bc55c7532c5/99238/2469ceebde6b957f1899d745f6adeda1.webp 1200w","sizes":"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px"}}}}},{"node":{"id":"Question_12601-markdown","title":"How do I access medical marijuana in New York City? This could be you and, say, your brother.\n\nThe Pennsylvania state government lays out the process of [how to register as a caregiver](https://www.pa.gov/guides/pennsylvania-medical-marijuana-program/) for a patient. You’d submit your information to the [Patient and Caregiver Registry](https://padohmmp.custhelp.com/app/login), complete a background check, and once approved by the Department of Health, you’d pay your card fees. \n\nWhen you’ve received your card, you could go to a licensed dispensary and buy medical marijuana on your mother’s behalf. \n\nGabe F.\n\n______\n\n![iStock-1287298474-min.jpg](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/i_Stock_1287298474_min_f7a94942c6.jpg)\n\nThe idea of having access to legal supply of weed is important. Although this may change with maneuvering for the 2022 Pennsylvania U.S. Senate race, [rec weed is not legal yet in the state](https://hellomd.com/articles/what-are-the-pennsylvania-weed-dispensary-rules).  And if you are caught with illegal cannabis, you may find yourself fined or arrested.\n\nOne local law firm points out: \"Possession of marijuana for recreational purposes is still illegal in this state, and failure to comply with the medical marijuana laws can be considered 'recreational' use, even when you intended to follow the law and use it for medical purposes.\"\n\nSo it’s important to follow the right steps to get your [medical marijuana card](https://hellomd.com/get-started/pennsylvania) and buy your weed from a state-licensed dispensary. \n\nTo become a medical marijuana user in Pennsylvania, you have to [register on the Department of Health website](https://padohmmp.custhelp.com/app/login), with a valid Pennsylvania driver's license or state-issued ID. Then you can see a doctor approved by the state to see if you can be certified for a card because you have one of the approved conditions for medical marijuana use.\n\nMore and more Pennsylvania residents are going through [HelloMD](https://hellomd.com/) to [get their medical marijuana cards](https://hellomd.com/get-started/pennsylvania). The process is all done online, including a consultation with a certified medical practitioner who will answer all your questions and then recommend you for certification in the live telehealth interview.\n\nOnce your application is approved by the state government, you’ll receive a printed card in the mail that you can take to a dispensary to buy the products you need.\n\nDoug G.\n\n______\n\n![iStock-1089531766-min.jpg](https://hellomd-cms.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/i_Stock_1089531766_min_1d3d42fa6b.jpg)\n\nThe dispensary you choose can play an important role in helping you decide on the right cannabis products for your mother. For example, the [Verilife](https://www.verilife.com/verilife-dispensary-locations) chain of dispensaries in Pennsylvania go out of their way to help you select the products, in a very welcoming environment. \n\nThey can go over a variety of [factors that impact the effects of weed](https://www.verilife.com/verilife-dispensary-locations). These would include the dosage you take, different types of consumption (inhalation, oral, edibles and topicals), as well as providing recommendations for specific products.\n\nGood luck to you and your mother.\n\nJames M.\n","image":{"childImageSharp":{"fluid":{"base64":"data:image/jpeg;base64,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","aspectRatio":1.5037593984962405,"src":"/static/d8fa7cc586502220277e01b4b97b4fae/14b42/074782f9e3f92049991f3690d9e9c21c.jpg","srcSet":"/static/d8fa7cc586502220277e01b4b97b4fae/f836f/074782f9e3f92049991f3690d9e9c21c.jpg 200w,\n/static/d8fa7cc586502220277e01b4b97b4fae/2244e/074782f9e3f92049991f3690d9e9c21c.jpg 400w,\n/static/d8fa7cc586502220277e01b4b97b4fae/14b42/074782f9e3f92049991f3690d9e9c21c.jpg 800w,\n/static/d8fa7cc586502220277e01b4b97b4fae/47498/074782f9e3f92049991f3690d9e9c21c.jpg 1200w,\n/static/d8fa7cc586502220277e01b4b97b4fae/0e329/074782f9e3f92049991f3690d9e9c21c.jpg 1600w,\n/static/d8fa7cc586502220277e01b4b97b4fae/208d9/074782f9e3f92049991f3690d9e9c21c.jpg 6720w","srcWebp":"/static/d8fa7cc586502220277e01b4b97b4fae/58556/074782f9e3f92049991f3690d9e9c21c.webp","srcSetWebp":"/static/d8fa7cc586502220277e01b4b97b4fae/61e93/074782f9e3f92049991f3690d9e9c21c.webp 200w,\n/static/d8fa7cc586502220277e01b4b97b4fae/1f5c5/074782f9e3f92049991f3690d9e9c21c.webp 400w,\n/static/d8fa7cc586502220277e01b4b97b4fae/58556/074782f9e3f92049991f3690d9e9c21c.webp 800w,\n/static/d8fa7cc586502220277e01b4b97b4fae/99238/074782f9e3f92049991f3690d9e9c21c.webp 1200w,\n/static/d8fa7cc586502220277e01b4b97b4fae/7c22d/074782f9e3f92049991f3690d9e9c21c.webp 1600w,\n/static/d8fa7cc586502220277e01b4b97b4fae/d4b3d/074782f9e3f92049991f3690d9e9c21c.webp 6720w","sizes":"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px"}}}}}]}},"pageContext":{"limit":12,"skip":24,"numPages":4,"currentPage":3,"id":5492,"name":"Medical Marijuana","slug":"medical-marijuana","country":"US"}},"staticQueryHashes":["3949754563","4179947113","4202924991"]}
