First off, please find a \"neuro-opthamologist\" to evaluate you.  Sometimes they give special eyedrops or medications like Neurontin; eyes are so valuable, I would get a \"second opinion\" about the pain ASAP!!\nAs far as cannabis, please read this short article:  https://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/micro-dosing-cannabis-stopped-my-chronic-pain\n\nI would look into hybrid-tinctures (50/50 THC and CBD) and take orally 1 to 3 x a day, like a medication, for a few weeks and see if the pain and inflammation resolve.  Some ptients get good relief from the CBD-transdermal patches; one company is called \"Pure Ratios\" and you can try their products.   As far as immediate pain relief, the THC-only edibles like \"Terra Bites\" can help; they are in doses of 2.5 to 10 mg. I do not recommend taking more than 20 mg in a 24-hour period.Best of luck.\n\ndrraisen","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_10344-markdown","title":"My husband is a stroke survivor on coumadin. Avoiding surgery is possible but it is also wise to take into consideration that spinal fusion surgery is the only option, no matter how much cannabis you are using.  One consideration is the type of pain being experienced;  if there is neuropathy or radiculopathy (pain that is like electric tingling, or a burning or numb sensation), there have been some studies in the past showing that THC in higher amounts (if you can tolerate it) may be best.  I recommend experimenting around until you find a  CBD: THC ratio that gives you analgesia (pain relief) but doesn't cause nausea, dizziness or other adverse reaction (for example perhaps 2:1 or 1:1 CBD to THC).  There are a large number of modalities that one can purchase:  vape-pens and tinctures are short lasting but quick acting.  There are a number of topical salves, patches that can be used.  Companies like Om & Sacred make cannabis infused epsom salts for soaking your body in hot water but here's a relatively easy home recipe:     https://www.cannabischeri.com/lifestyle/diy/how-to-make-marijuana-bath-salts/ \nIf there are issues w/ sleep, look into all the various edible products out there and experiment w/ dosing to give you at least 6-7 if not more hours of restful sleep at a sitting.\nIf you are serious about trying to avoid surgery, you need to add a stretching regimen (best done w/ cannabis to help w/ any pain that may come up) as well as physical therapy. \n\ndrpark","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_10328-markdown","title":"Can a person purchase low THC for baking? There are great topical cannabis products/lotions/creams to rub into areas of arthritis. For example,  pt's using Sativex (an oro-mucosal spray with a 1:1 ratio of CBD to THC)  for MS-related contracture pain seem to use admixtures that are in the 1:1 ratio/ range.  However, the literature suggests that certain types of pain such as neuropathic pain may be better served by cannabinoid preps that are mainly THC based. It is essentially what gives you the \"high\" feeling. CBD, or cannabidoids(poss wrong spelling), are essentialy the pain relieving part of the flower\n\ncaliguymikey\n_____________________\nCBD stands for cannabidiol and THC is short of 9-delta-tetrahydrocannabinol.  Both are the two most commonly found cannabinoids in cannabis (there have been over 50+ cannabinoids identified and further research is being done on how these compounds work).  Between THC & CBD,  THC is thought to be more psychoactive but CBD has some psychoactivity as well (the term psychoactive, IMHO , is not very useful because items such as sugar and caffeine are by definition also psychoactive).  THC and CBD are both useful for different types of pain.  In my experience having a little THC and CBD is more useful than having products (like this question, a topical) of just THC or CBD because of a synergistic interaction of these two cannabinoids  on the human body's natural endocannabinoid (EC)  receptor system called the \"enrourage effect\"  You can type up \"CBD\", \"THC\", \"endocannabinoid system\" in the handy search bar at the top of the HelloMD website for more information. Cannabis infused lotions and other transdermal methods work by binding to receptors called CB2 found throughout the body. With most topicals, cannabinoids can’t reach the bloodstream. They only penetrate to the system of CB2 receptors. Transdermal patches, however, do deliver cannabinoids to the bloodstream and could have psychoactive effects with a high enough THC content.  It would be safe to use THC-rich topical lotions since you wouldn't receive the psychoactive effects. If you are interested specifically in a transdermal patch then I would seek one CBD rich/dominant.\n\ntatiananp","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_10294-markdown","title":"What can you recommend for Lateral Epicondylitis (\"tennis elbow\")?","slug":"what-can-you-recommend-for-lateral-epicondylitis-tennis-elbow","content":"\n_____________________\nFor localized pain, many people find that topical preparations (creams, lotions, balms, salves) are effective, without mental side effects.\n\ndrbultman","image":null}}]}},"pageContext":{"limit":12,"skip":252,"numPages":54,"currentPage":22,"id":5599,"name":"Pain","slug":"pain","country":"US"}},"staticQueryHashes":["3949754563","4179947113","4202924991"]}
