Medicine may still be administered even if the oral route is impaired (e.g., due to vomiting, an injured jaw or throat, or gastrointestinal difficulties) or disallowed due to the oral intake restrictions that are frequently required both before and after surgery. Avoiding the gastrointestinal tract also prevents first-pass metabolism by the stomach and liver, which break down many different molecules into their constituent parts (including Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol, otherwise known as THC), and allows the active constituents to reach the blood in much higher concentrations.\n\nIn the case of THC, the liver transforms around half of what is ingested into the significantly more psychoactive metabolite 11-Hydroxy-Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol. While not harmful in and of itself and potentially of therapeutic benefit, this molecule causes much more intense cognitive effects than THC. Rectal administration not only avoids these effects, but also allows a much greater proportion of THC to eventually reach the blood stream. Rectal administration also allows for medicine to exert effects over localized ailments (e.g., hemorrhoidal tissue, inflammation of the rectum, or tumors in the rectal cavity). This form of use also has a much faster uptake than oral administration (around 10 minutes, on average) and leads to more consistent blood concentrations of the active constituents. \n\nBackdoor Medicine: How Marijuana Suppositories Can Save Lives\n\"You want me to put that where?!\"\nBy Nicholas Fraleigh / Cannabis Digest March 12, 2015\n\ndrpinto\n_____________________\nThank you for your question. There are many benefits to using an anal suppository and when you have tried it, you might discover that it is not so invasive after all. \n\nThe bioavailability of cannabis with rectal use lies at over 60%, inhalation about 30% and oral about 20%. That means that more of the medicine can have an active effect on the body when used this way. Moreover, cannabis is processed differently when used rectally and most people do not experience a psychoactive high and can benefit from a higher THC content than otherwise, especially if a psychoactive high is not desired. \n\nPeople use our suppositories rectally for many reasons: low back pain, sciatica, overall body relaxation and well-being, head aches, sleeping and more. \n\nAnother great use for especially Foria Explore is for anal play where the local effects of pain relief, pleasurable tactile enhancement and relaxation play a large role. \n\nIn conclusion, putting cannabis in your butt can be very beneficial! :-)\n\nkarin","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_11258-markdown","title":"I'm excited to see you carry Alta California. I bought some tincture from my dispensary and cant get the effects from ingesting it. Id rather not waste it. \"\n_____________________\nI would avoid vaping any tinctures that are not purified cannabis concentrates. Any added flavors, colors or chemicals may cause undetectable but cumulative lung irritation. In fact, recently it was revealed that certain additives in e-vape products can cause a condition called \"pop-corn\" lung.\n\nI recommend you stick to using products as instructed. Most tinctures are made to be delivered under the tongue (sublingual), as edibles or applied to body parts. May tinctures or extracts are delivered in oils (other than just cannabis oil) or alcohols as a base and should not be vaped. \n\nThere are great, clean, concentrated cannabis oils on the market that are excellent choices for vaping. Ask your dispensary to show you choices.\n\nYou may also want to be sure the product you have has not broken down (exposure to light or heat) and that you are using the best recommended dosing either sublingually or orally to ensure you get the effect you desire. Try titration of the dose up ward over a few days and keep a journal to monitor the effects.\nCannabis products do have a shelf life.\n\ndrgerhart","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_11186-markdown","title":"What is the best tincture product for insomnia?","slug":"what-is-the-best-tincture-product-for-insomnia","content":"\n_____________________\nActually, insomnia usually stems from anxiety during the day and the mind is overactive it night. In order to quiet the mind it usually takes a 1:1, CBD: THC tincture or a 2:1, CBD: THC tincture the quiet in mind. I have found that many people do Sativa cannabis in the afternoon and evening and then wonder why they can't sleep with their Indica cannabis. Since Sativa is very high in THC and very low in the CBD, taking Indica after Sativa will just bump up the THC level and over activate the brain making it impossible to sleep. If you have been taking Sativa in the evening, you must balance that THC with a high dose of CBD to create a one-to-one ratio in your body and you will go to sleep because the 1:1 you have now created will act like an Indica. Anything you do to bring your \nCBD : THC into a 1:1 ratio, or 2:1 ratio should put you to sleep but I find in patients with anxiety, They must treat their anxiety 24/7 and this is achieved by doing high-dose CBD during the day also. There is no one best product for insomnia, it's about knowing what you have on board and creating the balance between the CBD: THC. I hope this gives you clarity on how to proceed for a good nights sleep.\n\ndrolson","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_11172-markdown","title":"I am spending so much money on high CBD low THC tinctures I now want to try to make my own. Unfortunately, I can easily spend $200 a month on just this tincture alone and I still need other medication as well. I would like to try making my own tincture to see if it works and if I can have a cost savings. I am wondering what the best method is alcohol vs glycerin, how to figure out potency as well as dosing ie not taking more than 2.5mg of the in one dose. I'd appreciate any advice based on experience. I am even considering once I create this to get lab testing just to be sure I get it right!\"\n_____________________\nI may be able to help you. Are you doing a superhigh CBD, low THC, like a 28 : 1 preparation in MCT oil? Typically migraines are controlled at about 15 drops twice daily but you will not obtain the full effect for three weeks. Taking a super concentrated allows you to spend far less money on your CBD medication because you take less medication to achieve the same effect. In addition you must eliminate all the triggers so please see the article I wrote under 'Answers' on migraines. Do not take extra calcium but you must take extra vitamin D3 in order to keep your blood level above 50 ng/mL. Once you have a baseline of CBD onboard, you may still get a migraine but it's very easy to get rid of it. Migraine sufferers have and MAO-A snp in their genetic chart making them very chemically sensitive, and we have a hard time detoxifying so you must leave off all the toxic chemicals. Cigarette smoke and other toxic chemicals can cause a migraine in your emotions, diagnosed as depression. When you eat chemicals allergic to you may have a migraine in your gut, diagnosed as irritable bowel syndrome but don't let the doctors drug that, that is your body communicating with you. If you know you have a terrible pain in your neck and that is warning you the migraine is beginning. Treat your neck with cannabis salve and take a dose of D-ribose in order to stop the migraine before it fully involves. You must eliminate glutamate in your diet because you were extremely glutamate sensitive. You can Google and read about glutamate, The most famous one is monosodium glutamate and we are regularly poisoned in our foods with this chemical and it is neurologically toxic and can kill nerve cells.\nGood luck, I know you can do this without having to make your own medicine but you likely are over treating yourself with CBD tincture and you need to be much more diligent with removing toxic chemicals from your environment and your food.\n\ndrolson","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_11144-markdown","title":"Can I vape CBD oil? If I have a bottle of Jayden's Juice tincture?","slug":"can-i-vape-cbd-oil-if-i-have-a-bottle-of-jaydens-juice-tincture","content":"\n_____________________\nNo, Jayden's Juice is an oral preparation and should not be smoked unless you have contacted them at their website to find out their opinion but usually preparations intended for oral use should not be smoked. Jayden's Juice is safe enough for a child because it will not make you high but it does take regular use twice daily before you really feel it after ~3 weeks but it is working to get rid of the inflammatory cells in your body. Since you have a bottle of medicine, starting five drops four times today and in a couple of days when you know your blood pressure is stable, go to 10 drops twice a day and stay at that level for three weeks, then you can increase the dose if needed. You will notice a profound calming effect at approximately 3 weeks but if you don't notice, you could try going to 13 to 15 drops twice a day. Your sleep will be much better if you use CBD after using Sativa, because the CBD will join with the higher THC from Sativa and create an Indica in your body so you can go to sleep. CBD has so many uses at benefits but you won't know until you try using it regularly.\n\ndrolson","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_11134-markdown","title":"I have been taking klonapan and Celexa in the evening to help relax I have PTSD and Depression ","slug":"i-have-been-taking-klonapan-and-celexa-in-the-evening-to-help-relax-i-have-ptsd-and-depression","content":"\"I want to now use this Anxiety Relief Tincture as a replacement. Indicas are typically highTHC so I am doubtful that you will find a high CBD indica variety. Charlotte's Web, Haleigh's Hope, and Palmetto Harmony are a few of the safe and reputable varieties that can be found in dispensaries and/or online. They are usually anywhere from 24-28:1 CBD:THC, and are tested for heavy metals, solvents, pesticides, mold, and bacteria, which is very important. They have varying terpene and cannabinoid profiles so one might be more effective than another for any particular patient. All of these varieties are used extensively for treating seizures, anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, and psychosis. Besides being an anti-convulsant, anti-spasmodic, mood stabilizer, and anti-psychotic, CBD is a potent anti-inflammatory, relieves neuropathic and inflammatory pain, is neuro- and gastro-protective, lowers gastric acidity, suppresses appetite, and potentiates the pain relieving effects of THC.\n\ndrfrye","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_11108-markdown","title":"I take Welbutrin (200 mg) a day, does this interfere with taking a CBD tincture for Restless Leg Syndrome?","slug":"i-take-welbutrin-200-mg-a-day-does-this-interfere-with-taking-a-cbd-tincture-for-restless-leg-syndrome","content":"\n_____________________\nCBD and THC are not metabolized by the same enzymes used to metabolize Wellbutrin so you should not encounter any interactions between them.\n\ndrfrye","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_11104-markdown","title":"when using a CBD tincture is there a difference in effect due to plant origin- indica va sativa?","slug":"when-using-a-cbd-tincture-is-there-a-difference-in-effect-due-to-plant-origin-indica-va-sativa","content":"\n_____________________\nYes, there is although some people may debate this and say that indica and sativa have become so cross bred and confused that the effect are diluted. In general an indica will make you more relaxed, be sedating and have a full body effect. Sativa on the other hand will generally create a more uplifting, energetic, creative effect, like it may make you want to get up and clean your house.\n\nThat said, most tinctures you will find will not list whether they are sativa or indica based. Rather they will tell you the ratio of CBD to THC. For instance, I often take a 20:1 ratio tincture which is 20 parts CBD to 1 part THC. To complicate matters you will find that cannabis sativa tends to have more CBD toTHC in the plant, so there may be a tendency to use cannabis sativa although I can not verify this as the way people make their products is highly variable.\n\nLastly, if you are taking a CBD tincture it is important to know if it is being made from hemp or as many people say 'whole flower'. Hemp is bred for the highest level of CBD to lowest levels of THC (almost imperceptible). My personal preference is always to go for whole flower over hemp based CBD tinctures as I believe in the entourage effect.\n\npamelahadfield","image":null}},{"node":{"id":"Question_11068-markdown","title":"Between the PT Pain rub and the 20:1 CBD Tincture...
