Deficiency or malfunction of the ECS has become a focus for researchers seeking treatment options for several maladies—especially those that have few, if any, effective pharmocotherapeutic interventions, such as celiac disease, MS, fibromyalgia, IBD and IBS. In fact, the scientific community has recently termed the ECS malfunction: Clinical Endocannabanoid Decifiency, or CEDC. CBD works by balancing and supporting the ECS through its subtle effects on cannaboinoid receptor-1 (CB1) and cannaboinoid receptor-2 (CB2) receptors, as well as other receptors that modulate serotonin, GABA, dopamine, and more.
\n
The enteric nervous system (ENS) is an extensive network of neurons comprised of two neural plexuses: the myenteric plexus, involved in motility/peristalsis; and the submucosal plexus, involved in intestinal and gastric secretions. CBD works to restore homeostasis in the ENS via modulation of the myenteric plexus, and the submucosal plexus ... \"The small bowel has its particular contraction pattern (the MMC), which is under control of the myenteric plexus.\"\nhttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3752592/
\n
drkim
\n
\n
CBD's balancing of the myenteric plexus lessens inappropriate and painful intestinal contractions, and coordinates peristalsis; while balancing of the submucosal plexus reduces inappropriate gastric and intestinal secretions. CBD's effects the submucosal plexus and myenteric plexus factor into CBD's ability to alleviate symptoms of GERD, IBS, IBD and very likely gastroparesis.
\n
Cannabis also helps alleviate most symptoms of gastropareris, including nausea and vomiting, heartburn, poor appetite and pain.
\n
drkim
\n
\n
In a 2012 study conducted, of twenty-four patients with treatment-resistant gastroparesis, six patients were prescribed Dronabinol (synthetic THC); ten were prescribed marijuana of varying ratios; and eight were prescribed Dronabinol followed by marijuana of varying ratios. Statistically significant improvement in abdominal pain score was seen in patients who received either cannabinoid treatment. When analyzed individually, both marijuana and Dronabinol showed statistically significant improvement in abdominal pain scores as well.\" However, the cannabis of varying ratios of CBD and THC provided superior pain relief in comparison of Dronabibol (synthetic THC), with an abdominal pain score reduction of 51% vs 26%, respectively. The significant superiority of cannabis over Dronabinol is likely due to the CBD, and perhaps other cannabinoids and terpenes.\nhttps://www.eventscribe.com/2018/ACG/ajaxcalls/PosterInfo.asp?efp=RFNSWFFHSFY2NDI0&PosterID=162433&rnd=0.147068
\n
I hope this helps!
\n
drkim
","timeToRead":2}},"defaultImage":{"childImageSharp":{"fluid":{"base64":"data:image/jpeg;base64,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","aspectRatio":1.5,"src":"/static/1e164eb4ee29aff63b63675577d389d3/a07a5/question-default-image.jpg","srcSet":"/static/1e164eb4ee29aff63b63675577d389d3/decd9/question-default-image.jpg 150w,\n/static/1e164eb4ee29aff63b63675577d389d3/15aed/question-default-image.jpg 300w,\n/static/1e164eb4ee29aff63b63675577d389d3/a07a5/question-default-image.jpg 600w,\n/static/1e164eb4ee29aff63b63675577d389d3/701ee/question-default-image.jpg 800w","srcWebp":"/static/1e164eb4ee29aff63b63675577d389d3/483a3/question-default-image.webp","srcSetWebp":"/static/1e164eb4ee29aff63b63675577d389d3/e8bcc/question-default-image.webp 150w,\n/static/1e164eb4ee29aff63b63675577d389d3/4fec1/question-default-image.webp 300w,\n/static/1e164eb4ee29aff63b63675577d389d3/483a3/question-default-image.webp 600w,\n/static/1e164eb4ee29aff63b63675577d389d3/2ad7f/question-default-image.webp 800w","sizes":"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px"}}}},"pageContext":{"id":12324,"slug":"gastroproresis","country":"US"}},"staticQueryHashes":["3949754563","4179947113","4202924991"]}
