Hello! Vaping is a slang word used to describe vaporizing, in this case, cannabis. Vaporizing cannabis heats the cannabis to a certain level that is below the point of burning, or the point of combustion, so there is no smoke. Heating the cannabis releases the active ingredients into the air in a vapor. The patient breathes in that medicated vapor into the lungs where it is absorbed into the blood stream. The patient should feel the effects from vaporizing cannabis within 5-10 minutes. It is usually considered safer than smoking cannabis because the patient is not breathing in the hot smoke which also contains toxins of combustion.
