You’ll be able to make this ahead of your trip, so you won’t have fill up precious cooler space with lots of ingredients. As an added plus, these are easily customizable for pretty much any diet that includes eggs.\n\n1 serving\n\n#### Ingredients for Cannabis-Infused Omelet in a Bag\n\n* 2 large eggs\n* 1/3 cup fillings of your choice (bacon, ham, crumbled sausage, cheese, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms or peppers) \n* 2–4 drops of cannabis tincture (customize dose according to tolerance)\n* Gallon-sized freezer bag\n\n#### How to Make Cannabis-Infused Omelet in a Bag\n\n1. Beat two large eggs in a mixing bowl, pour them into the gallon bag, and add the toppings and tincture of your choice. Keep it refrigerated until you’re ready to cook. \n2. When ready, shake the bag to redistribute the toppings, and bring a large pot of water to a gentle boil. \n3. Slowly lower the bag into the water, and cook for about 15 minutes. \n4. Let cool for a minute, open the bag, and slide the omelet out onto a plate. \n\nRELATED: [DIY RECIPE: HIGH-CBD CANNABIS TINCTURE](https://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/57719580abb48f00070001be/diy-recipe-high-cbd-cannabis-tincture)\n\n### Lunch: Loaded Marijuana Campfire Potatoes\n\nThis is another recipe that you can prep ahead of time, so you only have to bring minimal ingredients. It’s simple yet filling, perfect for a campfire lunch before or after a hike.\n\n4 servings\n\n#### Ingredients for Marijuana Campfire Potatoes\n\n* 6 red potatoes\n* 1/2 cup shredded cheese of your choice\n* 1/4 cup of real bacon bits \n* Green onion\n* 1 tsp seasoning salt\n* 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes\n* 1 tbsp olive oil\n* 1–2 droppers full of cannabis tincture (customize dose according to group’s tolerance)\n* Sour cream (optional)\n* Gallon-sized freezer bag\n* Aluminum foil\n\n#### How to Make Marijuana Campfire Potatoes\n\n1. To avoid having to cut the green onions during your trip, finely chop them and store in a resealable bag or Tupperware until you’re ready to use.\n2. Clean and cut the potatoes into even 1/4-inch pieces, but don’t worry about peeling.\n* In a gallon freezer bag, add the olive oil, seasoning salt, red pepper flakes and tincture; then add the potatoes. \n* Seal the bag and shake vigorously. Keep the bag refrigerated until you’re ready to cook. \n* When ready to make the potatoes, take a very large piece of aluminum foil and fold it in half. \n* Place one quarter of the prepped potatoes into the center of the foil and top with shredded cheese and bacon. \n* Wrap the potatoes securely in the foil so that it’s airtight. \n* Place onto a cooking surface (charcoal grill, grill top above the campfire, camping stove) and cook for 45 minutes. Repeat for all 4 servings.\n* When potatoes are fork tender, top with sour cream and green onions. \n\n### Dinner: Cilantro-Lime Cannabis Chicken & Veggie Kebabs \n\nKebabs are one of the easiest ways to make a gourmet dinner while camping. All of the prep can be done ahead of time, and you don’t need many cooking supplies. Plus, these kebabs can be customized very easily to fit any dietary needs. If someone is vegetarian or vegan, just leave off the meat and/or honey.\n\n6 servings\n\n#### Ingredients for Cilantro-Lime Cannabis Chicken & Veggie Kebabs \n\n* 2 lbs boneless and skinless chicken breasts\n* 8 oz box of cherry tomatoes \n* 2 red onions\n* 2 large zucchinis\n* 1/3 cup lime juice (fresh is preferred)\n* 1/2 cup honey\n* 2 tbsp soy sauce (or coconut amino acids if gluten free)\n* 1 tbsp minced garlic\n* 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, roughly chopped\n* 1 tbsp avocado oil\n* 1–2 droppers full of cannabis tincture (customize dose according to group’s tolerance)\n* 1/2 tsp kosher salt\n* 1/3 tsp fresh ground pepper\n* Wooden skewers\n* Gallon-sized freezer bag\n\n#### How to Make Cilantro-Lime Cannabis Chicken & Veggie Kebabs\n\n1. Before your trip, prepare all of the ingredients for the skewers so all you’ll have to do is place the meat and veggies onto the wooden sticks. Start by chopping the chicken, onion and zucchinis into even 1-inch pieces. \n2. In a large freezer bag, add the lime juice, honey, soy sauce, garlic, fresh cilantro, avocado oil, cannabis tincture, kosher salt and ground pepper. Then add the chicken and vegetables, including the whole tomatoes. \n3. Shake the bag vigorously until all ingredients are combined. Let this marinate for at least 5 hours before cooking, or ideally overnight. Keep the bag refrigerated until it’s time to cook. \n4. Before cooking, soak the wooden skewers in water for 20 minutes so they don’t burn. \n5. After soaking, pierce the chicken and veggies onto the skewers until all ingredients are used. Place these on a charcoal or campfire grill and pour the remaining marinade over top. \n6. Cook for 15 minutes or until the chicken is completely cooked through. \n\nWe hope you enjoy these three easy, cannabis-infused meals for camping. Marijuana plus fine dining—it’s hardly a new concept, but it’s part of a growing movement to educate cannabis consumers and showcase how you can get creative with the plant. Having a concrete safe space to consume as well as a curated, high-quality menu gives attendees a chance to come together and enjoy carefully paired marijuana-infused dishes. These marijuana culinary events prove cannabis edibles have come a long way from the dosed brownies and cookies you may have consumed in your youth. \n\nFOLLOW US ON [FACEBOOK](https://www.facebook.com/pg/hellomdcompany/posts/) & [INSTAGRAM](https://www.instagram.com/hellomd_com/?hl=en)\n\nCanna-culinary events are designed to spark creativity and connection. They’re a wonderful way for seasoned marijuana consumers and the canna-curious to meet. Unlike an un-medicated dining experience in a restaurant, a canna-culinary event emphasizes collaboration during and after the meal prep.\n\nOver a dessert with infused-honey, a sweet partnership or new idea may bubble to the surface. Often, cannabis supper clubs host a cocktail event before the dinner begins, so people who may be a little nervous about trying an infused meal can relax before the food is served. \n\n### Elevated Supper Clubs Provide Cannabis Education \n\nCulinary marijuana events are about having fun, but they’re also about teaching attendees how to use cannabis in the kitchen in creative ways that works for various tolerance levels. Chefs will often address dosing, and the wisdom of “go low, go slow” in order for guests not to get overwhelmed by the powerful effects cannabis edibles can produce. \n\nChefs at cannabis culinary events typically tell attendees how many milligrams of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) are in each plate, so diners can titrate their respective doses. Many chefs also create custom plates for each diner, so one person with a low tolerance can stay within their comfort zone while someone else who tolerates THC well can feel the plant’s effects. \n\nRather than heavy-hitting, couch lock-inducing edibles, cannabis supper clubs generally follow the lead of the low-dose movement. This way, guests get to enjoy the effects of cannabis and still socialize. THC doses in the range of 2.5–5 mg per person are common at these events and can yield more subtle effects. \n\nRELATED: [COOKING WITH CANNABIS](https://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/56f9cbe5eb647f000800007f/cooking-with-cannabis)\n\n### The Gourmet Nature of Cannabis Supper Clubs \n\nContrary to the popular myth that marijuana consumers’ tastes run towards junk food like frozen pizzas, donuts and Doritos, diners who attend cannabis-infused supper clubs know they’re going to get gourmet dishes prepared by master chefs who use quality ingredients in their pairings. \n\nIncorporating lessons learned while he was a chef at Michelin-starred restaurants Mourad and Aziza, cannabis enthusiast Michael Magallanes now runs [San Francisco’s cannabis supper club Opulent Chef](https://www.opulentchef.com/). Michael creates tapas-style dishes and uses cannabis flowers, extracts and infused oils to showcase cannabis’s herbaceous nature in his food. Meanwhile, [terpenes, which are chemical compounds found in marijuana](https://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/5a99e9f4f24d1300077ccb6f/cannabis-terpenes-pack-a-therapeutic-punch) and other natural ingredients, add important flavor profiles to his finished dishes. \n\nJamie Evans, founder of [The Herb Somm](https://www.theherbsomm.com/), has a strong background in fine wines and recently started cooking with cannabis. In 2018, she began hosting Thursday Infused events at the [Naked Kitchen](http://nakedkitchensf.com/the-venue/), a quirky purple Victorian house in the heart of San Francisco’s Mission district.\n\n“It’s amazing to see participants smell wine and then smell cannabis—a lightbulb goes off,” Jamie says. By comparing the two, people better understand the link between aroma and flavor, which in turn enhances the dining experience. \n\nCannabis supper club hosts also get creative with their calendar, often choosing themes for their meals to add another dimension to the events. The Cannaisseur Series is one of the longest- running supper clubs in San Francisco, founded by chef Coreen Carroll and fiancé Ryan Bush. Previous dinner themes include Spring Quinox, Herbal Cheese Feast, Speakeasy Prohibition and Hightoberfest.\n\nThey’re currently selling tickers for their offering in time for Pride month, the [Wake-N-Bake Drag Brunch](https://cannaisseurseries.ticketleap.com/dragweedbrunch). Attendees can celebrate diversity alongside drag queens dressed to the nines for “wigs swigs and puffs.” \n\n### Be in the Know & Ready to Spend at Your Local Cannabis Culinary Event \n\nCannabis events are trending in major cities around the U.S. Even in places like New York, where marijuana possession is still restricted, [cannabis-infused dinners are held in secret, undisclosed locations](https://www.newyorker.com/culture/tables-for-two/an-underground-marijuana-dinner-party-grows-in-new-york). \n\nThese meals can be pricy, because a lot of work goes into a well-curated event with fresh farm-to-table food and organic, triple-tested-for-purity flowers and extracts. If you feel uncomfortable with the fact that they aren’t accessible to everyone, it’s worth seeing if the culinary cannabis event you’re interested in has a charitable element to their program. For example, San Francisco’s Thursday Infused series offers cannabis events for under $100, and also donates part of the proceeds from each event to local charities. \n\n### Find a Cannabis Supper Club Near You\n\nDue to more states legalizing recreational marijuana, it’s easier than ever for event organizers to offer an ongoing series of cannabis supper club evenings, instead of the one-off, pop-up dinner. While that’s also a viable and fun way to host an event, it’s helpful for those with busy schedules to have more than one chance to attend a canna-culinary evening. Regular, repeat opportunities for sharing a meal and learning about cooking with cannabis is also a great way to create community, whether folks are marijuana industry professionals or cannabis newbies. \n\nSee the following list for established cannabis supper clubs and groups that host pop-ups. Sign up early, though. These events are popular and often sell out. \n\n#### California \n\n**S.F./Bay Area**\n\n* [Thursday Infused](https://www.thursdayinfused.com/)\n\n* [The Cannaisseur Series](http://cannaisseurseries.com/welcome/)\n\n* [Hightened](https://www.eventbrite.com/o/thehightenedseries-16712160923)\n\n* [Herbal Notes](https://www.herbalnotes.co/)\n\n**Los Angeles**\n\n* [Altered Plates](https://www.alteredplates.tv/events)\n\n* [Popcultivate](http://www.popcultivate.com/welcome/)\n\n* [Cannabis Supper Club](https://www.cannabissupperclub.com/) \n\n* [Elevation VIP Coop](https://www.elevationvip.com/home) \n\n* [The Herbal Chef](http://theherbalchef.com/)\n\n* [Jeff the 420 Chef](https://www.jeffthe420chef.com/jeffthe420chef)\n\n#### Arizona/California \n\n* [Flourish Cannabis](http://flourishcannabis.com)\n\n#### Oregon \n\n* [High 5 Cannabis Tours](https://www.high5tours.com/october-cannabis-dinner/)\n\n* [Arcane Revelry](https://www.arcanerevelry.com/)\n\n* [NW Cannabis Club](http://www.nwcannabismarket.com/)\n\n#### Washington \n\n* [Luvn Kitchn](https://luvnkitchn.com/) \n\n#### Washington D.C. \n\n* High Class Headies and Potluck Mondays with [Terpy Solutions](https://www.eventbrite.com/o/terpy-solutions-14726616729)\n\n#### Nevada \n\n* [Kushtourism](https://kushtourism.com/nevada-marijuana-tours/)\n\n#### Alaska \n\n* [Michelle Delapena a.k.a. The tincture’s versatility has meant that a growing number of product options are available in today’s modern cannabis market. \n\nTo manufacture cannabis products, phytocannabinoids like tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) must first be extracted from the plant. There are many different ways of doing this, each with their pros and cons, but the three most common methods involve:\n\n* Carbon dioxide (CO2) \n* Butane \n* Ethanol\n\nFOLLOW US ON [FACEBOOK](https://www.facebook.com/pg/hellomdcompany/posts/) & [INSTAGRAM](https://www.instagram.com/hellomd_com/?hl=en)\n\nThe end result of a cannabis extraction process yields a concentrate that’s the basis for many products like vapor pens, salves and—yes, you guessed it—tinctures. In traditional herbalism, tinctures are made of plant matter that’s soaked in alcohol, then strained and put in a glass dropper bottle for consumption.\n\nIn the cannabis world, tinctures can encompass this method as well as cannabis concentrates that are dissolved in a carrier liquid—be it alcohol, vegetable glycerin or oil—and then packaged in small, glass dropper bottles. These liquids serve as a vessel that THC, CBD, and other phytocannabinoids and terpenes can bind to. \n\nMost people don’t think about the type of liquid being used in their tincture. However, this can be important information, depending on your individual needs and preferences. Following are some of the more common liquids used in cannabis tinctures as well as the pros and cons of each. \n\nRELATED: [DIY RECIPE: QUICK & EASY CANNABIS STRAIN-SPECIFIC TINCTURE](https://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/5a621ef38425e40008273a30/diy-recipe-quick-and-easy-cannabis-strain-specific-tincture)\n\n### 1. Alcohol-Based Cannabis Tinctures\n\nAlcohol was likely one of the first liquids used in cannabis tinctures, dating back to the early 1900s when marijuana was a common occurrence on pharmacy shelves. Alcohol can also be used to pull phytocannabinoids from raw cannabis flower—you’ll find plenty of recipes for how to do this online. In this scenario, you usually let the flower soak in alcohol for a period of time, strain and then consume the tincture as needed. \n\nAnother method, which involves the use of laboratory equipment, involves using alcohol to extract phytocannabinoids from raw flower, then evaporating off the alcohol, leaving a concentrate. Alcohol is then mixed back into the concentrate to create a tincture. Alcohol tinctures can have a bad taste, so it’s common for producers to add honey to make products more palatable. \n\n**Alcohol-based cannabis tincture pros:**\n* Fast absorption rate, so effects are felt quickly\n* Longer shelf life due to anti-bacterial properties of alcohol\n\n**Alcohol-based cannabis tincture cons:**\n* Unpleasant taste\n* Not accessible to those avoiding alcohol\n* No longer legal in California with the passing of adult-use marijuana\n\n### 2. Vegetable Glycerin Cannabis Tinctures \n\nVegetable glycerin is a clear, odorless liquid that’s used in many industries. Chemically speaking, glycerin makes up the backbone of fats called triglycerides. Vegetable glycerin is made by taking these triglycerides from plant sources and breaking them down. Typical plant triglyceride sources are coconut oil, palm oil and soy. For this reason, it’s important to ask where a company sources its vegetable glycerin from, especially if you’re on a special diet or using tinctures in conjunction with a serious medical condition. \n\nThese types of tinctures can be made by soaking raw flower in vegetable glycerin or dissolving a cannabis concentrate in vegetable glycerin.\n\n**Vegetable glycerin cannabis tincture pros:** \n* Sweet and palatable taste\n\n**Vegetable glycerin cannabis tincture cons:**\n* Glycerin can’t hold as many phytocannabinoids as alcohol, so more product needed to get therapeutic effects \n* Shorter shelf life than that of alcohol tinctures\n* Sourcing can be questionable\n\n### 3. Medium-Chain Triglyceride (MCT) Oil Cannabis Tinctures\n\nMedium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oils are becoming quite popular in the cannabis tincture market, with top-shelf brands like [Rosette Wellness](https://www.hellomd.com/brands/5c53c1da310091266bef2235/rosette-wellness) touting their health benefits. MCT oil comprises saturated fatty acids, usually derived from coconut and palm oils. However, unlike most saturated fatty acids, MCTs are metabolized quickly and stored minimally as fat in the body.\nCannabinoids are fat soluble, and a few studies involving rats indicate that [consuming cannabis with fats can increase the body’s absorption of THC and CBD](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5009397/). Basically, it’s thought that healthy fats, like MCTs, may enhance the plant’s therapeutic effects. \n\nThese types of cannabis tinctures are usually made from a cannabis concentrate that’s then dissolved in MCT oil. \n\n**MCT cannabis tincture pros:**\n* Easily absorbed by the liver, so effects are felt more quickly\n* Evenly absorbs cannabis compounds, so dosing can be more accurate\n* Neutral taste\t\n\n**MCT cannabis tincture cons:**\n* Usually lacks lauric acid, a fat that’s responsible for much of coconut oil’s benefits\n* Sourcing can be questionable\n\n### 4. Olive Oil Cannabis Tinctures\n\nOlive oil can be used to extract phytocannabinoids from raw cannabis flower. Similar to the alcohol method of extraction, cannabis flower is soaked in olive oil for a period of time, strained and then consumed as needed.\n\nOne study published in the journal _Cannabinoids_ found olive oil to be [an optimal choice for extracting cannabinoids](http://www.cannabis-med.org/data/pdf/en_2013_01_1.pdf), in comparison to other solvents, like petroleum ether and naptha. When olive oil is used as a solvent, it can’t be evaporated off like alcohol, so tinctures made in this manner can’t be concentrated. \n\n**Pros of olive oil-extracted cannabis tinctures:**\n* Easy, cost-effective and can be made at home\n* Doesn’t pull a lot of chlorophyll, leading to better taste\n* Gentle extractor that can preserve terpenes, so you get a whole-plant extract \n\n**Cons of olive oil-extracted cannabis tinctures:**\n* Can’t be concentrated, so more is needed to get therapeutic benefits\n\nThe other way to get an olive oil-based tincture is by having a cannabis concentrate and using olive oil as a carrier oil. These types of tinctures are usually mild in taste, but the low saturated fat content of olive oil means that it can’t hold as many cannabinoids as MCT oil can. \n\nPhoto credit: [Sterling College](https://www.flickr.com/photos/sterlingcollege/)\n\nIf you’re new to cannabis and want to learn more, take a look at our [Cannabis 101]( https://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/56201c206430320006bb0000/cannabis-101-your-quick-guide-to-medical-marijuana) post. After all, there are studies highlighting how cannabis can:\n\n* Positively affect mood\n* Make exercise more enjoyable\n* Ease anxiety in social situations\n\nCombine all of that with the [health benefits that come from spending time in the sun](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2290997/), and you’ve got the recipe for a truly fine day. \n\nWe compiled a list of some of the best outdoor activities and paired them with a perfect cannabis product for the occasion. Let us know how you like to enjoy a sunny day in the comments below.\n\n### Explore Local Parks With a Cannabis Lozenge\n\nNo matter where you live, odds are your city has at least one park to check out. Lace up your walking shoes and invite a friend or listen to a podcast while you stroll around town. You don’t need an agenda or a real plan. All you have to do is start walking. Exploring local parks is a free and easy way to spend a beautiful day.\n\nWhile you’re making your way around your local park, you can pop in a sativa tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) lozenge from Pure Ratios. Lozenges are a discreet, portable and smoke-free way to enjoy cannabis, perfect for parks that may have strict no smoking policies. These lozenges are fast-acting, because they bypass the digestive system—and they can even combat bad breath, too. \n\n### Hit the Trails With A Disposable Marijuana Vape Pen\n\nWhether you live in a town with nature trails readily accessible or you have to make a quick day trip, exploring nearby trail systems is a great way to get up and moving. Get online to find out what hiking, biking and even urban walking trails are near you. Pick a path according to your experience level and then get moving.\n\nIf you want a quick way to elevate your hike or bike ride but don’t want to smoke, a vape pen will give you what you need. Disposable vape pens are convenient for medicating on the go as you don’t have to mess with batteries, cartridge changes or other accessories.\n\nDomPen offers a Pineapple Coast disposable vape pen made with the famous cannabis strain Pineapple Express. This strain is known for imparting an energetic and invigorating high, perfect for a daytime excursion on the trails. \n\n\n### Check Out a Rooftop Bar With a Discreet Cannabis Tincture\n\nWhen we think about outdoor activities, people tend to think of exercises like hiking and biking. And while both of those are great, getting outside doesn’t always mean being physically active. If you’re having a lazy day, feel like splurging on some good food with friends or are too tired from your last workout to exercise again, try out a local restaurant with an epic rooftop or patio. \n\nThink about bringing along a tincture like this high-THC formula from Rosette Wellness. Made with Royal Treat, a cannabis strain high in terpenes, the tincture ensures a balanced and earthy experience, perfect for a social gathering.\n\nTinctures are an incredibly discreet way of consuming cannabis. Unlike other cannabis consumption methods, tinctures don’t require heating up because the cannabis has already been activated. Order a soda water with a splash of juice, add 1–3 drops of tincture, and you’ll have a cocktail without the inconvenience of a hangover. (Be careful about mixing a tincture with an alcoholic drink, as alcohol can heighten the effects of THC.)\n\n### Enjoy a Botanical Garden With a Tablingual\n\nYou may not think your town or city has a botanical garden, but it’s more common than you might expect. There are privately owned arboretums open to the public, botanic gardens on the campuses of universities, and some that are owned and operated by state governments. And visiting any of the above are well worth your time. Botanical gardens and arboretums are full of lush, gorgeous foliage that make for a beautiful background for a walk. \n\nSince nearly all botanical gardens are smoke-free, any cannabis you bring will have to be consumed some way other than smoking or vaping. In this case, we’d recommend Elevate tablinguals by LEVEL. These little tablets are meant to dissolve under the tongue so that the cannabinoids are absorbed through the tissues in the mouth. These little tablinguals are a discreet way to consume cannabis while you’re strolling through the gardens. And it’s easy to up your dose if more is needed. \n\n### Find an Outdoor Workout Group With a Sour Gummy\n\nIf you want to knock out two activities in one, go for an outdoor workout class. Check out [meetup.com](https://www.meetup.com/) to see if there’s a group already in place near you. If you can’t find one, you can always start your own. The setting doesn’t have to be fancy. Run through a local park, use playground equipment for creative exercises, run sprints up and down the bleachers of a local high-school football field. You’ll get a great workout and some much-needed vitamin D all at the same time. \n\nKick your workout into high gear with an upbeat sativa edible like Plus Sour Watermelon Gummies. Not only can cannabis increase airflow during exercise, THC can act as a shortcut to the elusive runner’s high everyone wants to achieve during a workout. \n\n### Explore Your Local Farmer’s Market With Marijuana-Infused Tea\n\nStrolling through a farmer’s market is one of the absolute best ways to spend a morning. And the spring season really brings out some of the best fruits and vegetables, including strawberries, corn, green beans, apricots and so much more. Bring your reusable shopping bag to carry home all of the fresh local produce, and get ready to try all of the samples. If you’re lucky, there will be some epic baked goods waiting for you, too. \n\nKikoko’s Positivi-Tea is a HelloMD staff pick for a good reason—and a great way to sip your cannabis while strolling through the farmer’s market. Each tea sachet has 10 mg of THC and 5 mg of cannabidiol (CBD), a perfect dose for someone still pretty new to cannabis or for experienced consumers looking for a smaller dose of marijuana. Brew this tea and toss it in a thermos so you can enjoy it as you meander through the market. \n\n### Have a Picnic in Your Own Backyard With a Cannabis Pre-Roll\n\nYou don’t have to go anywhere to enjoy the spring weather if you have a backyard, patio or deck. All you have to do is step right out of your door. Toss a blanket on the lawn and invite friends over for a spring picnic. Or put out a table and chairs.\n\nThe only thing that can make snacking outdoors better is a little cannabis. And the best part of staying within the comfort of your own home is that you can smoke flower freely, if that’s your preferred cannabis consumption method. Grab a pack of these Garden Society Hybrid Dogwalker Joints to enjoy before, during and after the picnic. Although some products are touted to work for specific conditions or cause a certain effect, each person’s body reacts to cannabis differently—partially because everyone’s [endocannabinoid system](https://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/5751cbd970410e000b00003a/what-is-the-endocannabinoid-system) is different. The result is that each of us can have a unique experience when consuming the [psychoactive cannabinoid tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)](https://hellomd.com/articles/the-pros-and-cons-of-psychoactive-thc), and therapeutic benefits aren’t always consistent from person to person.\n\nOne rule of thumb when starting your journey with cannabis is to go low and slow. This means [start at a minimum dosage, ideally a microdose](https://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/5a0efecec1c79d0009dba12b/how-to-find-your-ideal-marijuana-dosage), and then wait to see how you react to it before taking more.\n\nIf you’re a cannabis newbie, you may have a very low tolerance or possibly even an exceptionally high tolerance. When starting out, titrating your dosage, starting small and working up, will help you understand what works best for your body and mind. The result is the best-tasting organic tea we’ve ever tried. And each cute triangle-shaped tea bag also happens to have a healthy dose of cannabis within it.\n\nWe’re such fans, we think the flavors of the four different Kikoko teas rival, if not surpass, the taste of Republic of Tea, Mighty Leaf or any high-quality loose leaf tea you might purchase. Kikoko tea is pure magic on a brisk night.\n\nThe tea we think is best suited for a cannabis newbie is the Sensuali-Tea, an all-organic hibiscus, cardamom and rose-blend tea, which contains 7 mg of cannabis per tea bag. Steep the tea for two minutes, and the full cannabis dose will permeate the hot liquid.\n\nKikoko’s Sensuali-Tea is meant to promote connection—and help you achieve monumental orgasms. Although we can’t attest to the latter, we do believe you may feel a boost of creative energy and perhaps a desire for deeper conversations. If you’re just starting out, we suggest splitting a single dose into two cups of tea, waiting for the full effect (which may take up to an hour) to set in before sipping more of the medicated beverage.\n\n### Cannabis Edibles\n\n#### Satori Raisins in Milk Chocolate\n\n![Satori Raisins in Milk Chocolate!](https://hellomd-development.s3.amazonaws.com/markdown-image-injector-d6fa2afb-fc33-4f01-8f79-c81ced697366/original.jpg)\n\nSatori’s one of the first brands that focused on [microdosing cannabis](https://hellomd.com/articles/microdosing-a-better-way-to-take-cannabis). It was also the first-place award winner in the edibles category at last year’s _High Times_ event—a prestigious accolade indeed. Each of the six Satori products, or bites as they’re called, is coated in delicious chocolate and comes in a variety of small doses to suit the needs of different consumers.\n\nOur choice for the new cannabis consumer is the California Raisins in Organic Milk Chocolate. Each chocolate-raisin bite contains 1 mg of THC, which is the smallest microdose available in an edible today—at least that we know of.\n\nStart with one to two raisins, and wait for at least an hour to see the effect. If needed, you can take one more per hour, until you know what the right dose is for you. For some people, two raisins may be just enough, while others may need five.\n\nIn any case, dosing with Satori raisins is easy, because if you go low and slow, it’s hard to overdo it. Most people we’ve talked to have found Satori to be an uplifting experience, great for an evening out with friends. \n\n#### Garden Society Bright Blooms\n\n![Garden Society Bright Blooms!](https://hellomd-development.s3.amazonaws.com/markdown-image-injector-96e78a0b-ddac-4ef9-8aad-bffa676f7ca3/original.jpg)\n\nGarden Society began with the belief that medical cannabis has the potential to be a tool for health and wellness and that everyone should have access to its holistic benefits. The result: a company well known for high-quality edible cannabis gelées and chocolates, which are not only delectable but exquisite to look at. \n\nWe chose the Bright Blooms gelées, which remind us of the sophisticated gelees you see in the window of a Parisian patisserie. The brightly colored treats are beautifully packaged, equal parts hostess gift and personal luxury.\n\nInfused with fruit and herbs , the gelées are made from an organic, sun-grown, sativa-hybrid cannabis strain. At 5 mg of THC and [tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCA)](https://hellomd.com/articles/how-to-make-the-most-of-non-psychoactive-thca) per gelée, they provide a subtle, yet relaxing boost, while still within the boundaries of what’s considered a microdose.\n\nIf you’re brand new to cannabis, we might suggest starting with half a gelée, and waiting two hours to feel the overall effect before having anymore.\n\n#### Sensi Chew Insomnia With Melatonin\n\n![Sensi Chew Insomnia With Melatonin](https://hellomd-development.s3.amazonaws.com/markdown-image-injector-a326af15-720f-43f7-9f67-00fe5c23d1ac/original.jpg)\n\nSensi Chew has been one of the longest-standing medicinal cannabis brands in California. With widespread distribution throughout the state, it has also become a well-known go-to for relieving pain and insomnia. The Sensi Chew Insomnia with Melatonin combines the benefits of melatonin with the sedative qualities of THC to achieve a good night’s sleep.\n\nThis particular Sensi Chew is similar to a chocolate chew with an almost Tootsie-roll quality. Although these bite-size morsels primarily contain THC and melatonin, they also include a full cannabinoid profile (including CBN, CBG, CBD, CBC, THCV) along with a [terpene](https://hellomd.com/articles/cannabis-terpenes-pack-a-therapeutic-punch) profile.\n\nAs each dose has 10 mg of THC, cannabis newcomers may want to start out by cutting a single dose in half. It may be that 5 mg is more than enough to promote a peaceful slumber. \n\n### Marijuana Tinctures & Sublinguals\n\n#### Level Delta-8 THC Soothe Tablinguals\n\n![Level Delta-8 THC Soothe Tablinguals!](https://hellomd-development.s3.amazonaws.com/markdown-image-injector-16931b2c-b43a-4e29-8600-cafe7de44c7f/original.jpg)\n\nLevel, a brand known for its scientific approach and wonderful [cannabinoid](https://www.hellomd.com/articles/the-10-cannabinoids-in-cannabis-you-should-know) blends, has come out with a first-to-market tablingual called SOOTHE. Slide open the package, flip open the silicon box inside and place a single 3 mg tablet directly under your tongue. There, the tablingual quickly dissolves and within five to 15 minutes, you should be feeling the effects of the cannabis.\n\nDelta-9 THC is what everyone refers to as THC. Delta-8 is very similar, although chemically slightly differentiated; it’s still psychoactive, however, the effect you feel may be milder, making it a great option for someone new to cannabis.\n\nDelta-8 THC is known to have anti-emetic, anxiolytic, appetite-stimulating, analgesic and neuroprotective properties. When we tried a single dose of SOOTHE, it was both relaxing and uplifting, while still allowing for a clear head. Level also has a wide selection of vape oil cartridges, based on desired effects, that’s well worth checking out.\n\n#### Rosette Wellness' No. 1 CBD Rich Cannabis Tincture\n\n![Rosette No. 1 CBD Rich Cannabis Tincture!](\nhttps://hellomd-development.imgix.net/product-image-a64ffb77-db99-493f-bb37-41985bcd9857/original.jpg?auto=compress&bg=ffffff&dpr=2&fit=fill&h=245&q=100&w=345)\n\nRosette Wellness make whole plant extract tinctures, which are mixed with MCT (medium-chain triglyceride) oil made from coconuts. Rosette tinctures come in a variety of ratios of CBD to THC and even other formulations that include lesser-known cannabinoids such as THCA, cannabinol (CBN), cannabigerol (CBG) and cannabidiolic acid (CBDA).\n\nA 1:1 ratio of CBD to THC is often referred to as borderline psychoactive, which is a good place to start if you’re new to cannabis. For someone with a lower tolerance, this tincture may be mildly psychoactive, and for someone with a higher tolerance, it may not impart any high feelings at all. Many people have commented that they felt the No. 1 CBD Rich Cannabis Tincture is effective for both pain relief and relaxation. The 1:1 tincture has a mild taste and a fast-acting yet a manageable effect.\n\nIf you’re interested in a tincture with more THC, you may want to start with the Rosette's THC Cannabis Tincture. This is made with sun-grown cannabis chosen for its high terpene content. The benefit of a tincture is that you can accurately dose the amount of THC drop by drop. Keep in mind that a microdose would be in the range of 2–3 mg to start.\n\n### Cannabis Topical\n\n#### Dr. Kerklaan Natural Pain Cream\n\n![Dr. Kerklaan Natural Pain Cream!](https://hellomd-development.s3.amazonaws.com/markdown-image-injector-040e9577-5190-49f8-a246-be46f8e0964b/original.jpg)\n\nDr. Andrew Kerklaan started his topicals brand Dr. Kerklaan with the idea that, after treating thousands of patients in integrative health care, there was a more natural pain alternative. His journey into health and wellness ultimately led him to cannabis. Today, Dr. Kerklaan is a fledgling topicals brand in the California market, but poised to make big waves.\n\nTopicals are a wonderful entrée into cannabis for new consumers. They provide localized pain relief yet don’t cross into the bloodstream. As a result, you don’t feel the stereotypical high associated with most cannabis products.\n\nDr. Kerklaan Natural Pain Cream takes a whole plant approach and has 90 mg of THC to 90 mg CBD, a 1:1 ratio. One of the first things we noticed about the pain cream is the packaging, which appears more medical than most topicals on the market today. It comes in a tube, which is also more sanitary than most jars of cream and balms where you dip your fingers in again and again. \n\nImmediately after squeezing some cream out, we noticed a pleasant aroma of peppermint, lavender and eucalyptus. In other words, it didn’t smell like a field of cannabis. The cream is also creamy and not greasy, a common issue with many salves we’ve tried in the past.\n\nDr. Kerklaan Pain Cream states that it may relieve pain, inflammation, muscle tension and stiffness. With high hopes, we applied dime-size portions to various areas in need. Many of us immediately felt an effect, whether that be the loosening of a stiff shoulder or the easing of a sore knee. \n\n### Marijuana Vaporizers\n\n#### Care By Design CBD-Rich 1:1 Vape Cartridge\n\n![Care By Design 1:1 vape cartridge!](https://hellomd-development.s3.amazonaws.com/markdown-image-injector-2f20d31d-ce94-49ee-9564-95c60076c6f3/original.jpg)\n\nSince their inception, Care By Design has been laser focused on creating the safest, most effective cannabis-based medicine for patients throughout California. The entire Care By Design product line is based on whole plant CBD in either CBD-dominant, CBD-rich or CBD-THC balanced ratios.\n\nCBD is well known as an effective anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antispasmodic. In some cases, it helps a patient sleep through the night and may greatly reduce anxiety.\n\nWe’ve chosen the Care by Design 1:1 vape cartridge as an ideal addition to any newcomers’ starter kit as it balances one part CBD to one part THC. Having a 1:1 ratio creates a balanced high as CBD mitigates the effects of THC. Often a 1:1 ratio will be described as having “borderline” psychoactivity, which means the high may or may not be present—and if it is, it will be milder.\n\nCare by Design’s 1:1 vape cartridge offers a pleasant, piney flavor with the help of cannabis terpenes. The taste is robust, but not too overpowering. Most of our staff noticed little to no psychoactive effects; however, relaxation was evident within a few minutes of consumption. For a novice consumer, a 1:1 vape cartridge is a good place to begin testing the waters with both CBD and THC.\n\n#### AbsoluteXtracts Jack Herer Vape Cartridge\n\n![Absolute Xtracts Jack Herer vape cartridge!](https://hellomd-development.s3.amazonaws.com/markdown-image-injector-43412188-d142-4089-8a9e-a72a1348dfb0/original.jpg)\n\nAbsoluteXtracts, or ABX, has been creating extensive lines of premium vape oil cartridges for years. One of the reasons we like ABX so much is its dedication to quality and long history of providing patients with superior cannabis alongside a consistent experience. A vertically integrated company, ABX grows its own cannabis and manufactures products on site. \n\nAlthough there’s a multitude of vape oil cartridges to choose from, we chose ABX’s Jack Herer vape cartridge. This easy-to-find, mellow strain is a good fit for experienced cannabis users and newbies alike. It manages to be uplifting and cerebrally stimulating without any of the raciness that often accompanies other sativas.\n\nOverall, [Jack Herer](https://hellomd.com/articles/top-5-marijuana-strains-for-beginners) is balanced and stimulating, making it a versatile companion any time of day. The ABX vape experience is very flavorful and aromatic with a citrus flavor undertone. If you’re new to cannabis, we suggest that you start with one puff, wait 15–20 minutes to see how it affects you, and then determine if more may be needed.\n\nMain photo credit (clockwise from top left): [Garden Society](https://www.instagram.com/grdnsociety/), [Satori](https://www.instagram.com/satorichocolates/), [Kikoko](https://www.instagram.com/kikoko_hq/), [Sensi](https://www.instagram.com/sensichew/), [ABX](https://www.instagram.com/absolutextracts/), [Care by Design](https://www.instagram.com/carebydesign/).\n\nIf you’re new to cannabis and want to learn more, take a look at our [Cannabis 101](https://hellomd.com/articles/cannabis-101-your-quick-guide-to-medical-marijuana) post. Pause to scrape the sides of the bowl. \r\n3.\tUsing same method, slowly add cannabis-infused oil. \r\n4.\tAdd apple cider vinegar and lemon juice, pulsing after each addition. The oils should be fully incorporated, and the mayo should have a light, whipped consistency. \r\n5.\tAdd white pepper and additional salt to taste. \r\n6.\tCover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to use. \r\n\r\n### Ingredients for Cannabis-Infused Deviled Eggs\r\n\r\n* 6 hardboiled eggs\r\n* 3 tbsp cannabis-infused mayo\r\n* 1 tsp Dijon mustard \r\n* 2 tbsp sweet pickle relish\r\n* 1/2 tsp apple cider vinegar \r\n* 1 tbsp capers \r\n* 1/4 tsp paprika\r\n* pinch of sea salt (to taste)\r\n\r\n### How to Make Cannabis-Infused Deviled Eggs \r\n\r\n1.\tPeel all six eggs and slice in half lengthwise. \r\n2.\tCarefully scoop yolks into a mixing bowl, setting the halves on a serving plate. \r\n3.\tAdd cannabis-infused mayonnaise, Dijon mustard and apple cider vinegar to yolks. Smash with the back of a spoon until you’ve made a smooth paste. Add sweet pickle relish and sea salt to taste; mix well. \r\n4.\tIf you’re feeling fancy, scoop the yolk mixture into a Ziploc baggie. Snip the corner off the baggie and pipe yolk mixture into each egg half. Though this doesn’t require any expert culinary skill or special tools, it can be tedious and a little messy. For your best chance at success, use a sturdy Ziploc (not a “snack bag”) and work slowly. \r\n5.\tFor deviled eggs that are just as delicious and less fussy, skip piping and carefully spoon about two teaspoons of yolk mixture into each egg white half. \r\n6.\tTop each deviled egg with a few capers and sprinkle lightly with paprika.\r\n\r\nPhoto credit: [Jeffreyw](https://www.flickr.com/people/jeffreyww/)\r\n\r\nIf you’re new to cannabis and want to learn more, take a look at our [Cannabis 101](https://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/cannabis-101-your-quick-guide-to-medical-marijuana) post. Some argue cannabis can be seen as the “bitter herb” included on Seder plates, while other Jewish communities insist that the plant is part of a group of non-kosher grains and legumes. \r\n\r\nIn 2013, Orthodox rabbi Efraim Zalmanovich ruled that [marijuana is indeed kosher for Passover if used for medical purposes](https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/marijuana-is-kosher-for-passover-leading-rabbi-rules-a6995761.html). The plant, however, isn’t considered kosher if consumed recreationally. \r\n\r\nThat said, there really is no consensus on whether cannabis is kosher for Passover. For those considering a cannabis-infused Passover Seder, it may be worthwhile to discuss it with your rabbi and/or community. If you do decide cannabis is a kosher addition to your Passover celebration, here’s a medicated take on charoset, the paste made from fruit and nuts that’s traditionally eaten at the Passover Seder. \r\n\r\nRELATED: [DIY RECIPE: QUICK & EASY CANNABIS STRAIN-SPECIFIC TINCTURE](https://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/5a621ef38425e40008273a30/diy-recipe-quick-and-easy-cannabis-strain-specific-tincture)\r\n\r\n### Ingredients for Marijuana-Infused Charoset\r\n\r\n* 6 red apples, cored and chopped\r\n\r\n* 2 lemons\r\n\r\n* 2 cups walnuts\r\n\r\n* 1 1/2 tsp honey\r\n\r\n* 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon\r\n\r\n* 1/2 tsp kosher salt\r\n\r\n* 1/3 cup kosher sweet red wine \r\n\r\n* 1–2 mL [cannabis tincture](https://www.hellomd.com/products) (Note: You can use a high-CBD tincture if you want to avoid psychoactive effects.)\r\n\r\n* Matzo for serving\r\n\r\n### How to Make Marijuana-Infused Charoset \r\n\r\n1.\tPeel and core the apples, then chop them into quarters. Add the walnuts to the food processor and pulse until coarsely chopped. Once finished, remove the walnuts and add to the mixing bowl with the apples. \r\n\r\n2.\tIf you want to offer infused and non-infused charoset options, now’s the time to divide the apple base into two. Be sure to label the bowl that will be infused so you don’t get them confused.\r\n\r\n3.\tAdd the sugar, honey, cinnamon and salt. Mix well until all ingredients are combined and then stir in the kosher red wine. Add 1–2 mL of cannabis tincture to the half that you want infused with cannabis. \r\n\r\n4.\tLet the charoset mixtures chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving with matzo.\r\n\r\nServes 4–6\r\n\r\nAs always, make sure all of your guests know which foods are infused. While the dose included in this recipe is relatively low, the serving dish should be marked clearly so folks can decide for themselves whether to opt into a cannabis-infused Seder celebration. \r\n\r\nPhoto credit: [Robert Couse-Baker](https://www.flickr.com/people/29233640@N07/)\r\n\r\nIf you’re new to cannabis and want to learn more, take a look at our Cannabis 101 post. ","slug":"are-marijuana-infused-alcoholic-drinks-a-good-idea","content":"As the medical and recreational cannabis industries continue to grow, new trends and products seem to pop up all the time. One that has been gaining steam is cannabis-infused alcohol. Companies are making [vodka with hemp](https://www.liquor.com/articles/hemp-vodka/#gs.wjF5jng), brewing beer with cannabis and infusing [marijuana into wine](http://www.fresnobee.com/living/food-drink/article174077661.html). But is mixing cannabis and alcohol safe? How do the two substances interact together in the body? Is there any way to dose marijuana accurately when it’s mixed with alcohol? \r\n\r\nFOLLOW US ON [FACEBOOK](https://www.facebook.com/pg/hellomdcompany/posts/) & [INSTAGRAM](https://www.instagram.com/hellomd_com/?hl=en)\r\n\r\n### How Do Cannabis & Alcohol Interact in the Body?\r\n\r\nBefore you start experimenting with alcohol and cannabis, consider how these two substances interact in your body when consumed simultaneously—the possible side effects may not be worth it. \r\n\r\nThe truth is there simply isn’t a lot of scientific data on this yet. Most research related to mixing marijuana and alcohol explores what happens when you smoke marijuana after already imbibing alcohol, not what happens when you infuse alcohol with cannabis. While not exactly the same scenario, these studies do give us some clues about how cannabis and alcohol interact in the body together.\r\n\r\nA 2015 study by the American Association for Clinical Chemistry [looked at the effects cannabis and alcohol could have on each other when consumed one after the other](https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2015/05/150527112728.htm). Researchers observed 19 adults, giving some low doses of alcohol and others a placebo. After 10 minutes, some were given a high dose of vaporized cannabis, while others received a low dose of vaporized cannabis; the control group received a placebo. \r\n\r\nResearchers found that those who consumed alcohol before consuming cannabis experienced a much higher level of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in their bloodstream than those who hadn’t consumed alcohol first, regardless of the amount of alcohol or cannabis. The researchers concluded, “Any dose of alcohol combined with cannabis significantly increases levels of THC in blood.” \r\n\r\nSo what side effects could come from cannabis-infused alcohol? Both cannabis and alcohol are central nervous system depressants; when consumed, they can both separately cause sedation. Ingesting too much of both at the same time could result in serious grogginess, memory lapses, paranoia and nausea. \r\n\r\nRELATED: [MIXING MARIJUANA & ALCOHOL](https://www.hellomd.com/health-wellness/58e7bbf32fdeaf51a1a08384/mixing-marijuana-and-alcohol) \r\n\r\n### Tips for Drinking Marijuana-Infused Alcohol\r\n\r\nWhat we do know for sure is that when it comes to dosing, it’s difficult to get it right with cannabis-infused alcohol. That’s because alcohol works as an extremely effective solvent, used to extract terpenes and cannabinoids from the cannabis plant. So while throwing some cannabis flower into a bottle of vodka may seem relatively harmless, it can end up being highly concentrated and more potent than you may expect.\r\n\r\nIf you’re going to experiment with cannabis-infused alcohol or alcoholic beverages, it’s wise to do so in the comfort of your own home. As always, start slow and keep in mind that dosing marijuana accurately when alcohol is in the mix can be quite difficult.\r\n\r\nIf you’re infusing the alcohol yourself, add less cannabis than you think, as the final product can end up stronger than expected. Also, allow your body time to process your cocktail for at least 30 minutes before thinking about going back for a second round. \r\n\r\nHave you experimented with cannabis-infused alcohol or cocktails?
